    "Since You've Asked"

    by Dan Fogelberg

    "What I'll give you
    Since you've asked
    Is all my time together
    Take the rugged sunny days
    The warm and rocky weather
Take the roads that I have walked along
    Looking for tomorrow's time
    Peace of mind --

As your life spills into mine
    Changing with the seasons
Filling up the world with time
    Changing time to reasons
I can show you all the songs
That I never sang to someone before.

We have seen a million stars
    Lying by the water
You have climbed the hills with me
    To the mountain shelter
    Taking off the days
    One by one
    Setting them to breathe
    In the sun.

Take the lilies and the Lace
    From the days of childhood
    All the willow winding paths
    Leading up and outward
    This is what I give
This is what I ask you for
    Nothing more."

    In Your Eyes

    by Peter Gabriel

Love I get so lost, sometimes
Days pass and this emptiness fills my heart
When I want to run away
I drive off in my car
    But whichever way I go
I come back to the place you are

    All my instincts, they return
And the grand facade, so soon will burn
Without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside

    In your eyes
    The light the heat
    In your eyes
    I am complete
    In your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
    In your eyes
The resolution of all the fruitless searches
    In your eyes
I see the light and the heat
    In your eyes
Oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light
The heat I see in your eyes

Love, I don't like to see so much pain
So much wasted and this moment keeps slipping away
I get so tired of working so hard for our survival
I look to the time with you to keep me awake and alive

And all my instincts, they return
And the grand facade, so soon will burn
Without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside

    In your eyes
    The light the heat
    In your eyes
    I am complete
    In your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
    In your eyes
The resolution of all the fruitless searches
    In your eyes
I see the light and the heat
    In your eyes
Oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light,
The heat I see in your eyes
In your eyes in your eyes
In your eyes in your eyes
In your eyes in your eyes

Your new page is smokin', my Baby.

three 'sentences' on this page are so strikingly beautiful; the background a continuing dream. Blessings to you both. Frans

this is one of the best backgrounds I have ever seen. Beautiful...
  • ILTL4eva7 on August 13
The first poem you have listed is by e e cummings, the subsequent poems are Swanee's work, and you have your mood set as "turtle"... Boy, am I glad she found you - she did all the work, and now I get a super-awesome literary daddy. Heck yes! I know I don't frequent the site much anymore, but I thought I'd drop in and say hello. So, hello! And now that that's been accomplished, I'm off to feign sleep. Good night!

"Poetry is nothing more than an intensification or illumination of common objects and every day events until they shine with their singular nature, until we can experience their power, until we can follow their steps in the dance, until we can discern what part they play in the Great Order of Love. How is this done? By fucking around with syntax."

from: "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" by Tom Robbins

    i carry your heart

    ~ e e cummings

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear no fate(for you are my fate, my sweet)
i want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

"if you like my poems let them"

    by ee cummings

"if you like my poems let them
walk in the evening,a little behind you

    then people will say
"Along this road i saw a princess pass
on her way to meet her lover(it was
toward nightfall)with tall and ignorant servants."

"I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way."

"If you are a poet, you will see clearly that there
is a cloud floating in this sheet of paper.

Without a cloud there will be no water; without water,
the trees cannot grow; and without trees, you cannot make paper.

So the cloud is in here. The existence of this page
is dependent upon the existence of a cloud. Paper
    and cloud are so close."

    ~ Thich Nhat Hahn

I Think Continually Of Those Who Were Truly Great

    by Stephen Spender

I think continually of those who were truly great.
Who, from the womb, remembered the soul's history
Through corridors of light where the hours are suns
Endless and singing. Whose lovely ambition
Was that their lips, still touched with fire,
Should tell of the Spirit clothed from head to foot in song.
And who hoarded from the Spring branches
The desires falling across their bodies like blossoms.

What is precious is never to forget
The essential delight of the blood drawn from ageless springs
Breaking through rocks in worlds before our earth.
Never to deny its pleasure in the morning simple light
Nor its grave evening demand for love.
Never to allow gradually the traffic to smother
With noise and fog the flowering of the spirit.

Near the snow, near the sun, in the highest fields
See how these names are fisted by the waving grass
And by the streamers of white cloud
And whispers of wind in the listening sky.
The names of those who in their lives fought for life
Who wore at their hearts the fire's center.
Born of the sun they traveled a short while towards the sun,
And left the vivid air signed with their honor.

  • Night Hope : Pending the Release of Your Newest Book on April 12

With a weary, relieved sigh, Diogenes has lain his lamp aside. There is finally a truly honest voice, the purest peal ringing beyond the borders of the darkest, dimmest night. Those of us who seek, who long to linger within the unbound volumes of Knowledge, may now gather our seeds for planting; the soil has been tilled for us. The garden surges forth. The birds await the unfurling of branches in which to cast forth their songs of giant wonders, their symphonies of light. Moqui Takoda has arrived.

    ~ Wanda Lea Brayton
author of the book, “Swanee Sighs”

i have found what you are like

    by e e cummings

i have found what you are like
    the rain,

    (Who feathers frightened fields
    with the superior dust-of-sleep. wields

easily the pale club of the wind
and swirled justly souls of flower strike

    the air in utterable coolness

    deeds of green thrilling light
    with thinned

    newfragile yellows

    lurch and.press

    -in the woods
    which
    stutter
    and

    sing

And the coolness of your smile is
    stirringofbirds between my arms;but
    i should rather than anything
    have(almost when hugeness will shut
    quietly)almost,
    your kiss

"You leave your memory as a flame
to my lonely lamp of separation.

I came to offer thee a flower,
but thou must have all my garden,—
    It is thine."

'An unknown flower in a strange land
    speaks to the poet:
"Are we not of the same soil, my lover?"'

"The shade of my tree is for passers-by,
its fruit for the one for whom I wait."

Have a lovely Monday, Moqui. *leaves another cup of coffee...*thinks* Hmmm... & some cheesecake, just to make SURE you will, then skips off happily into the realm of insomniac inventions of reticulated rainbows, molten memories of unmasked music & the purest scents of solitude, puppy breath & kitestrings daubed lightly on my wrists*

  • Night Hope : From My Page To Yours, My Friend... on January 18

"Among the Haida Indians of the Pacific Northwest, the verb for 'making poetry' is the same as the verb 'to breathe'."

~ from the book, "Another Roadside Attraction" by Tom Robbins

I thought ya might enjoy this quotation, Mr. Lowkey~Moqui.
I encountered it when I was working at my college library, approximately 1982, I think. I love Robbins' work. "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" was another one I copied lines from into my "poet's journal"...it was filled with various thoughts, quotations, poems, my own lil' made~up quotations, etc. Here's one of mine for ya. A guy I dated off & on for 5 years (his idea, not mine) once called me "Ol' Faithful". Baaad idea. Vewwy, vewwy bad idea, considerin'. My quick~draw reply was this: "Don't kid yourself. I'm jus' a tumbleweed caught in a barbed~wire fence, waitin' for a good gust of wind to come along." I'm pretty sure HE got the idea after that. His best friend adored me, his dog couldn't wait to see me ~ even his fish swam to the nearest side of the aquarium when I walked in. I told him, "Awww, you're jus' skeered yer mama might like me." He scowled at me a lil'...Hmmm...I wonder why??? My late sweetheart was 100% Pottawatomie. Tall, dark, lean & gorgeous. Although I'm only 1/16th Cherokee (s'posedly), I always wished it was far more (I was born white, too ~ Sighhh...) I'm drawn towards the natural way of things. To me, the city is a lot more dangerous than the wilderness ~ it's considerably more civilized...at least there, you know what to expect. Animals won't deceive you like Man will. My step-grandfather was the Medicine Man of his (Cherokee, also) tribe. He was already quite old when I was very young ~ what tales he must have had to tell!!! I'll try to find a poem I wrote about him when I was just beginning to write & send it to you. I dunno. Don't ask me. Jus' decided to drop by & say "hey". Sooo...Hey. Wanda

Hey, I hand feed an elephant some guava and apples the other day... no seriously, the ones that roam around the streets of Bangkok? Yeah them... but I didn't buy the fruit off the owners so as not to necessarily support what they are doing but still give the cute elephant (by the name of rain - rainwater "namfon" to be exact) a treat for the day~ felt nice... so yeah, just thought I'd share seeing u might appreciate the little story!
