Thank you so much for your kind comments. I'm so sorry that you have been through the same pains as I have. There is no way to descibe just how painful this can be, especially because it will completely change your life. In addition, the one you love feels the pains also. It is a very trying time in ones life. I am glad you had someone to stand beside you through this. Please tell your husband for me that he has a wonderful caring heart and thank him because of the pains he had to watch you go through while still staying strong for both of you.
I only have one lumbar disc left that has not been fused. I am taking life much easier and slower now so that I can enjoy life later without having pains theat medications can do little about. I am lucky to still be walking.
I do wish that someone would have stepped in years ago when I first serverly injured my back and refered me to a specialist about depression. Recently, I nearly died because of major depression. It hurts me to know that someone has to "crash" so hard before some specialist realizes that major depression is present. Anyone suffering in chronic pain and endures a life altering event needs help whether or not they know this.
The specialist noe told me that I should have been treated for depression many years ago. If so, my fight with depression now may have never gone as far as it did. I've been through 11 surgeries and having major depression, I believe, is as painful if not worse as all of my surgeries combined.
I'm doing much better now. I should get out of my brace in a couple of weeks. I'm on much medication for depression and it seems to be helping me. My panic attacks are gone for now! I turned to writing, which has been a source of healing. I have met so many new friends after joining AP, and I am so grateful for this now that I'm living alone. I'm learning how to make myself happy for the first time. I'm smiling again and a smile itself is healing. Thank you so much for visiting my author's page and sharing you life with me. As soon as I have a chance, I'll read your writes. I'm looking forward to this.
Most important, I feel like I have another friend today and friends are so very important!

AliceinPoetryLand on August 19, 2006Hi, thought I'd stop by seeing as how you made a comment on one of my pieces.You are so right about there being so many woderful poets on this site and I think it helps you grow as a poet when you read how others put together their pieces and the different slants they take on a theme. It helps you increase the vocab you can use in your own work too! I think most of us write about what we feel and what's on our soul because the emotions are more intense and I believe makes any write so much better.
Please just let me say how sorry I am about your marriage and your child's father. You have done it tough. So use this site to express all those feelings and you will write some brilliant work

I can not imagine having to suffer three times. You will be in my prayers for healing!! If you ever need a friend I would be more than happy to be there for you!!
