Wow Chad, your page is hard to read, but i love the Superman symbol!!! It reminds me of the Pillar song - Jesus, the Original Superman
I came here cause i saw your name somewhere and it said "Jesus protect me from your followers" I love that! It's not so much of a joke because really the biggest thing keeping people from truly going deeper with God is too often people within thier very own churches... So yeah, i just thought it was cool you said that. Bless You!!!!!!!! Cheri
  • ILTL4eva7 on November 22, 2005
lol, lovely page--the sunnyness is almost sickening, but your poetry darkens it to a tolerable degree. You are, by the way, a genius... but you aren't getting that nasty F word. :-P Ya know what would be awesome? if you'd go read my second-newest poem... You don't have to comment if you don't want to. I love you!!!

Hey Chad. Spoken Word is any form of poetry that is read or recited onstage, with content enhanced by the emotions and vocal inflections of the poet or performer. Slam Poetry is a competitive form of Spoken Word where poets are judged in as much as 2 to 5 rounds by randomly chosen anonymous judges in the audience on a score of 1 to 10 agaisnt other performing poets. A perfect score for a poem is a 30, or three 10s. The rules of slam poetry include: 1) No props, costumes, instruments, etcetera are allowed to be brought onstage by any performer, unless they contain the text of their work, such as paper, a notebook, or a laptop. For example, if a poet says "I looked to see what timeit was was" in his poem, and looks at his watch, he would get a prop violation. 2)Poems that go longer than 3 minutes including a 10 second grace period get point deducted from their total score. 3) Parodies and quotations are allowed, but poets must perform original work only. I'll gladly send you a list of slam venues in your area. Otherwise, check it out yourself at www.poetryslam.com. Once you go to that page, click on "venues," and once you click on that, click on your home state, and list should come up. If by chance you're not interested in the competitve aspect, let me just say in the words of Allen Wolf, "The points aren't the point. The point is the poetry." I find it interesting that you are unfamiliar with any local venues, because St. Louis was the host city for the National Poetry Slam last year, where the best members of teams nationwide congregate to test their skills against the best of other cities. It's also funny you mention Def Jam, because pretty much everyone on that show at some point or another has participated in slam, many of which, after participating in Nationals this year in Albuquerque, I am hppy and proud to call my friends. IM me if you have any more questions. -Curtis

Hey Chad. I messed up and accidentally erased a load of messages and IMs people on this site had sent me. Someone was asking me about what slam poetry and spoken word were. Was it by chance you?-Curtis

Hey I love your questioning nature (which I think, as spiritual human beings, we must keep)

I think hypocrisy starts in narrowmindedness.

Jesus preached love to EVERYONE, so those with "holier than thou" attitudes because THEY have been saved and not someone else need to crack open a bible.

    That's just my opinion.

Again, rockin' page. You may have inspired me to include a few of my own beliefs on my page!
  • Michael 54 on September 9, 2005
    Hi Chad,

You pose a lot of questions on this page that humans have needed answers for, for years. Sometimes it's not the answers that are important, but what we individually do with the information. Keep asking the questions because that's how mankind learns.

When I get some time, I'll be back to read some of your works. Take care.

    Michael

Oh... the pure awesomeness of what you've written. There's one line that sticks out to me--it's not even one you have written, but you have the idea down, and my mind just condensed it... "Without weakness there is no strength"... it can be applied to everything, even and especially what you have written. Strength cannot exist without weakness, it's impossible. Anyhoo... I love all of it, ALL of it. You're brilliant, Chad. Wowzer. Great job! If this was a poem/column/something, *hint hint* I'd give you points to promote it... *hugs* I love you!!!

Hey, I happen to be online at home right now to do some homework(will be into work tomorrow for a longer period online) and I was just wondering if there is anything specific you would like a critique on? I know that (at least for me) that some pieces are purely emotional and you may not really be looking for anything in depth written about them.

anyways, if you can, it can at least gimmee a place to start.

(I once got carried away and critiqued a friend of mine's almost whole category of 100+ poems, haha. so a place to start or anything specific you would want a critique on would be great)

if not, I'll just do whatever I guess.

    Hope your weekend went well.

    Mine went.....

....EXCEPTIONALLY well...if you get my meaning hahaha

    ~Heather.

good thing you don't support Bush...he's a jackass...I was so rooting for him to lose last election...he's such a pain in the ass..and an absolute idiot. But unfortunately this day and age is diseased with vermin that think that God supports war...Iraqis are fighting over holy land so they aren't much better..they are doing the same thing we are..our government is just as hypocritical as them..they use extremes and we are becoming extremists. Everyone in this country is a pathetic prejudgemental moron...the other day I saw a reverend on tv say "blow them away in the name of the Lord" what kind of blasphemy is that? Anyways that is my rant for the day..peace

  • Twisted Logic on July 10, 2005
    Pious and ignorant?
    No,I think not.
  • Chad Lough on July 9, 2005
I hardly think I am misinformed.. media is biased, their facts are relative to the sources they use, and they use sources that meet the ends of the polarization...

    We have different sources...
War itself is a stem off of the heart of evil. Evil fuels the evil desires that cause war.
    The current situation is silly.
    I do NOT support Bush...
I do NOT support the war...

I have family and friends in Iraq, too.

I meant Bush is not against alternate energy...

    Ummm...

Other than that, I am sorry I used a snotty tone, I was pious and ignorant
  • Red Red Rose on July 9, 2005
Your talent shines, but as a Christain, I can see where you arre coming from. Even if we pulled out our troops the terrorism would never stop. I could give you some links to read, but you wouldn't even nelive what the different presses say about this war. IN INdia, they are burning down all the Coca Cola plants, as they are being funded by Bin Laden. This was on National news. If a soldier who has been there, and knows what is going on, tells me what is really happening, I will believe him. I have two friends whoces children are there now, and the letters they get from them suggest all I have written in my poem. I respect you as a poet, but now as an uninformed American. At University's all over this country, they are all working on alternative means of power, so we will be able to drive cars on water, or electricity, fueled by nuclear plants. PLease read up on some of these things before you make a comment like you did on my poem!

Just thought I'd give you an update on the girl injured in the tsunami. Her parents were never found but they did find some family members in Germany. She's there now safe and sound.

    Thanks,
