    Dear lady, my very deepest sympathy on your loss. I know this passage of life very well, lost my own mother 12 yrs ago and there really are no words sufficient to speak to this.....only know that there are others who understand and who share with you albeit from far away....there is comfort offered and found in open palms wherever they may be.
    There is much healing in words and artistic expression too, and I know you will find it even within your own.....but do know it is also felt and offered to you from kindred spirits and hands. XOXOXOXO

    Hi Carol,

    I've just read your collaboration poem with Wanda, on the subject of friendship and sisterhood. It was a stellar piece! Have added it to my list of favourite pieces by others, which is easier for me than having an endless list of bookmarks, and too, so others who visit my AP space can be introduced to authors' works I have found myself moved by when reading. I've also placed you on my favourites list, as I would love to keep up with your posted material. You have a wonderful writing style, which worked so harmoniously and effectively with Wanda's own.

    Best wishes,
    Stu

    Just an addendum to something that was written in my guestbook re: lists. A copy of the note I sent:

    Oh, no, this is not happening, please say this is not true. I do have many lists, and I have a list that says favorites but it is poetry, not authors. We all have the favorite list of people that is given with the account, of course. I do not say anyone should read anyone, unless I see a new poet who might ask how to do something and I know the writers who enter my contests and will send them there or to someone on my favorites' list. I think Wanda has lists of her favorites as well, and keeps track of poems she loves in those folders. I think it is just poetic license for her to do so. And, often, I will go and check out her list, for time does not always allow me to hit all my favorites' writing. Some are very prolific and are the same people. Some we have been friends with for years. Some we have met and some we have talked to on the telephone. I think that is the reason she keeps track of us. I would not be the writer I am today without her encouragement and her comments, truly.
    I am sorry you have taken such offense. Wanda is a true poet right to the bones. She has come to defense of me and I am sorry for such kerfuffle.

    Please, know that I thank you for your comment about my poem, and know too, I did not know whether to be insulted for my topics, my writing, or what the threat was, or what. The original post was not clear to me. I had no idea what harm you were speaking of. I think I do understand now. You resent that we may seem to be promoting only a few. No, poet, we are both poets who go to entries of new poets and encourage and invite, and we have been doubly blessed for doing so by meeting the other poets that we have on our favorites' lists. I hope you do not let this be a sour note in poetic appreciation of others work. And, if Wanda states someone is an incredible poet, I do know, she would know. Let there be peace, at least, here.
    Sincerely,
    Carol.

    Do not let anyone try to tell you what to do with your own author's page, Carol. Whatever her problem is, let it be hers, not yours. Good grief. Some people and their overrated opinions. Besides...I went to her page and guess what? She has lists, too.

  • CarolDesjarlais : To the Poet aiyana: on October 26
    Hi poet. I was just wondering, what harm do lists do to harm others? How else am I to keep track of the almost 4000 poems I have on AP?
    "I liked your contest entry so much, I come here to find another list maker. I throw up my hands. You people have no idea how much harm you attempt to do .. except we will not let you."
    Please explain.

    I Think Continually Of Those Who Were Truly Great

    by Stephen Spender

    I think continually of those who were truly great.
    Who, from the womb, remembered the soul's history
    Through corridors of light where the hours are suns
    Endless and singing. Whose lovely ambition
    Was that their lips, still touched with fire,
    Should tell of the Spirit clothed from head to foot in song.
    And who hoarded from the Spring branches
    The desires falling across their bodies like blossoms.

    What is precious is never to forget
    The essential delight of the blood drawn from ageless springs
    Breaking through rocks in worlds before our earth.
    Never to deny its pleasure in the morning simple light
    Nor its grave evening demand for love.
    Never to allow gradually the traffic to smother
    With noise and fog the flowering of the spirit.

    Near the snow, near the sun, in the highest fields
    See how these names are fisted by the waving grass
    And by the streamers of white cloud
    And whispers of wind in the listening sky.
    The names of those who in their lives fought for life
    Who wore at their hearts the fire's center.
    Born of the sun they traveled a short while towards the sun,
    And left the vivid air signed with their honor.

    on your publication of Shhhh... you are one of favorite poets on this site and I have dearly appreciated all the many wonderful poems you have brought into my contests -- I do believe you are my highest gold trophy winner with over 10 golds. Not to mention how inspiring I often find your contests. I will certainly order a copy of your Creation Story when I am home in the states next. All the best, Carol.

    My review of Carol's book...

    I met Carol on a poetry website several years ago. I was immediately taken with her soulful expressions, her courage, compassion and honesty. I had the distinct honor and pleasure of reading parts of this story during the editing phase and have waited breathlessly for its arrival. This is a story for the ages; it is timeless, classic and beautiful. Gift yourself with this amazing woman's words; your soul will be forever altered by their beauty.

    shewolfnative sings a soulful song of wisdom, beauty & understanding. Much like marc creamore, I have read many hundreds upon thousands of other poems & poets...Carol has literally & figuratively laid her healing hands upon my soul...repeatedly. I love her dearly & can think of no greater inspiration than to read her magic on these pages...Prepare to be made whole...& tell your friends, too...There are many sorrowed spirits that need to hear her voice...Thank you for Being, my Sister & my Friend...Indeed, we are kindred. Tonight, I have been blessed to have been introduced to the beauty, the music and the depth and inner wisdom of a soul that speaks to me from a place that I have seldom come across. My enthusiasm for this work almost overwhelms me . . . I am in awe and almost trembling at the magnitude of what I have read thus far. Understand that I have read many, many poets in my lifetime, always searching for that voice, that heartcry in the universe, that almost hidden poetic mantra that resonates deep inside and strikes a chord so profoundly that it makes me stand back and bow in honour. I think I may have found just such a voice . . . Oh shewolfnative . . . may you be blessed by the Creator's most gentle hands.

    Dear Carol
    I have read and re-read this splendid analogical poem with tears in my eyes. Though few may bother to read my poems during my lifeltime, it is my fervent hope as I am sure it is for most of us, that they will be read in years to come.
    ~~~
    "And yet, perhaps, some vestige of my verse
    may an inquiring future voice inspire
    to speak my name, for better or for worse
    so, from this world, my loss be not entire."
    (From my poem "Memento Mori".)
    ~~~
    Thankyou for this beautiful appreciation and for your matchless words. (Bookmarked)
    With humility, love and hugs, XXX Hugh.

    I do not doubt for a moment that your joy could very well have been the reason for my dream, though it continuously plays in my mind still. Most especially the piece I had seen within my dream. Perhaps it is a piece you have need write yet have not gotten to. Nonetheless I believe the reason will make itself known, they always do. As I said I just felt extremely compelled to stop by and let you know of such a dream
  • Celticmoon on October 11, 2006
    My dear I have come to stop by your page as I feel very compelled to leave a message. I have seen your name about the site but never have we spoken, yet just a few short nights ago I had a dream of you. I do not know why or it's meaning. It was a simple dream. I had dreamnt I was searching through your works to find a piece called "Blue Native". I have since searched your works and have not found one with this title, unless my eyes deceive me. I remeber it as having a light purplish background set to it. Sadly I cannot state as to what the piece was about I can only recall the title and background. Since having this dream and not having spoken to you before it rests in my mind with a heavy curiousity. I firmly believe every dream I have is for a reason though the reason for this one remains unknown at least for now. Nonetheless, I felt greatly compelled to stop by your page and share this with you.

    Have a Great Day!

    Many Blessings to you!

    When I was dark
    and lost inside parks
    your light it shone
    calm, campfires from home.

    I closed so far
    an office with tribes
    in Keylowna, BC, Canada
    free of all bribes.

    Pure like the earth
    upon a volcano first
    by a lake ravine
    as in a dream.

    They accepted my hand
    as I hired members
    and rented me land
    from their heartfelt embers.

    Go find your soul
    that starts and ends
    family which none control
    from where you descend.

    Dear First Nation Sister

    We once shared blood
    to which I return
    as well as love
    tribal loyalties we yearn.

    Though you said friend
    to out spirits past
    my walk I ascend
    from shaman's spells cast.

    I hear your laughter
    and mocassins of families
    as magical pitter pater
    surrounds you so tenderly.

    I take great joy
    as eagles flap wings
    in a great noise
    blessing chants you sing.

    Words of Wisdom

    "I will not die an unlived life.
    I will not live in fear
    of falling or catching fire.
    I choose to inhabit my days,
    to allow my living to open me,
    to make me less afraid,
    more accessible,
    to loosen my heart
    until it becomes a wing,
    a torch, a promise.
    I choose to risk my significance,
    to live so that which came to me as seed
    goes to the next as blossom,
    and that which came to me as blossom,
    goes on as fruit."

    I don't know how to send it as an individual audio track yet. But thank you for the inspiration and I hope you enjoy listening to it.

    Hi

    I was looking at a contest you are currently running and it brought to mind how inspiring and wonderful your contests are.
    I have entered several of yours, and I noticed that the poems that I entered in them, I have always remembered, and actually liked and it was because of your inspiration. I didn't enter the contest I saw. I am in a strange mood lately and it is limiting what subjects I can write on but I just wanted to tell you that I admire your ability to host such inspiring contests. I adore having contests, but my ideas for them are usually not anything spectacular LOL ...I have one running now, and you are invited if you choose to grace us with your poetry allpoetry.com/Contest/2162085
    but really I just stopped by to compliment you
    Have a beautiful day! Oh my, I have taken up half of your page (chatterbox that I am)

    I came to see your home page and was impressed with the content of what you shared ... especially the following: "The road of life is fraught with incidents of awe, aw, and ah, that I might share my reactions and reflections to these moments with others is an honor I hold sacred. " You seem to have that special something that probably lights up your eyes as you view the worlds that revolve around you! I'm impressed that you didn't list a long line of All Poetry affiliates and your trophys sure do shine! I'm adding you to my favorites so I can perhaps be enlighted by what you share. Thanks, joy

    Thank you, sista. It was a lot of fun for me and only mildly stressful when I found out I'd mispelled the cover photographer's last name. LOL. Had to update the link... I hope it won't interfere with you early 's orders but the beauty of print on demand is exactly this; at least future orders will have the right spelling. I just hope there aren't any other major glitches.
