Renee, I have been showered with a blessing just from meeting you. Yes, we must believe that all is part of a master plan, no matter how difficult it is for us to see. Your brother is a wise man.....why am I not surprised? Strength and faith will get us through whatever we must face. I'm sure yours is unwavering. Best wishes to you and yours, my good friend....much love your way

    Hello my friend!

I am so grateful for friends like you who know exactly what to say and when to say the words that make so much sense. I guess that's why God deemed you a "poet".

We buried little Jordan today in a wonderful homegoing celebration, and I saw the light of the Lord in the sanctuary. God makes no mistakes, all he does is perfection. My brother is the pastor and he allowed us to see through God's word that Jordan was a gift. I continue to hold his parents in prayer and I thank you for your friendship and support. God sent me here for a reason as well, it was to know people like you. I love you and ask that the God of all, great and small, showers you and yours with many blessings.

    Much Love,
    Renee

Just a quick note to tell you how much I appreciate all the help you gave me when I first tried to write using different forms. Its difficult to write a sonnet or villanelle properly, but I wouldn't want to do it any other way. I know that I can come to you if I have a question about the different forms and you will give me good information. You hold firm to form rules in your contests, and if those that enter truly care enough to learn how to do them correctly, insisting on conformity to form certainly helps them to expand and learn. Thank you again, just felt you should know that
there are those that do appreciate you.

Thankyou so much for reading and helping me with my Canon. I've rethought about it and tried it out a little differently. It's too difficult to explain here, but I feel it orks better and reflects what a canon is much better. I think this next version could go on and on and on if you wanted it to...smiles...thankyou sooooo much!!! I'd be greatful if you would read the new version and give me your thoughts as to whether you think it works better or not. HUGS FOR YOU!!!! You are wonderful!!! Darianna x

LOl, i read your villanelle on how to write a villanelle -- that's great! lol!
  • symitar on August 7, 2003
Congratulations on your silver cup for The Cows of Uganda, I thought it should have won the gold, but seems someone got inside information on Kate, which would, of course, supercede cows and their respective parts. But silver isn't bad! Congrats again, its a wonderful poem.

Thank you SO much for stopping by and leave such a great poem on my page... That was very kind of you... Here is a poem that was written by my good friend Sammy (Dreamweaver) When I had to put Blus mother down about a year and a half ago..

    From Friend To Friend

You're given me a special gift,
    So sorrowfully endowed,
And through these last few cherished days
    Your courage makes me proud.

    But really, love is knowing,
When your best friend is in pain,
    And understanding earthly acts,
    Will only be in vain.

So looking deep into your eyes,
    Beyond, into your soul,
I see in you the magic, that will
    Once more make me whole.

    The strength that you possess,
Is why I look to you today,
To do this thing that must be done,
    For it's the only way.

That strength is why I followed you,
And chose you as my friend,
And why I've loved all these years....
    My partner 'til the end.

Please, understand just what this gift,
    You're giving, means to me,
It gives me back the strength I've lost,
    And all my dignity.

You take the stand on my behalf,
For that is what friends do.
And know that what you do is right .
    For I believe it too.

So one last time, I breathe your scent,
And through your hands I feel,
    The courage that's within you,
    To grant me this appeal.

Cut the leash that holds me here,
Dear friend and let me run,
Once more a strong and steady dog,
    My pain and struggle done.

    And don't despair my passing,
For I won't be far away,
    Forever here, within your heart,
    And memory I'll stay.

I'll be there watching over you,
    Your ever faithful friend,
And in your memories I will run,
.... A young dog once again.

I know I've heard this name somewhere before?....
  • nukerliu on July 22, 2003
    Hey!
I should have commented on here long ago. I just LOVE YOUR BALLADS. They are amazing, especially "Across the fields of lilacs spread" that is my favorite poem of yours -- I mean I know that your sonnets and villanelles are of a different sort of amazing, but that poem just really touched me -- and its pretty difficult to do that. I showed my friend your poetry and he said, "WOW, He [meaning you] writes better than some of the stuff in our literature book!" And he meant it!
Anyhow -- I love your poetry and I am very flattered that you said my villanelle was a "perfect poem", I am very flattered. Thank you.

Hey, I never thought that I could enjoy reading this type of poetry, but your poetry is too good to pass by.
  • repomen79 on July 20, 2003
mr. balladeer, would you be interested in doing a poem about mercenary vegatables? your comments on "Tiny red Apples" cracked me up and I had to get right on it and answere you. come see and tell me if we can do this OK? I think it would be funny as kumquats and inked up toilet seats.

dericlee, I take that as the highest compliment a man can receive...I thank you, sir.
  • dericlee on July 6, 2003
it's not often anymore (whether through honest self-satisfaction or through vanity) that I see the work of a contemporary and think, even in my deepest thoughts "I wish I'd written that."

I've visited your page three times now, and been just too embarrassed to admit it, so i said nothing at all...but I look again at the verse that forms your self-introduction, and damn it!

    I wish I'd written that!
  • Unbridled1 on July 4, 2003
not to mention that i'm damn cute too! hahahahaha!

Thanks for stopping by my page...glad you liked it. That is one of my all-time favorite songs...yet makes me cry...even when i just read the words on my own page...

I sincerely thank you all very much for all of the nice things you have said. You make writing a pleasure. Some poets say they write for their own mental state and care little if others like their work or not but, in all truthfulness, I write for my own enjoyment AND to entertain others. Your words let me know that at times I succeed and I thank you for that

cinara..you don't need a trophy case. You need something the size of the Louvre!!
  • Cinara on June 25, 2003
What are you trying to do, steal the trophy case that Gecko promised? I've got some serious reading to do here. I have to agree with all the remarks above. You are a brilliant poet.
    And a pleasure to read.
    And that's that.
(OK, I'll let you have the trophy case. Can I polish it for you?)
  • Bluestar on June 24, 2003
your poems are amazing - I wish i could write like that! I especially liked 'Peeping Tom' - the twist at the end was very clever! Keep writing - you are brilliant!

I thought that "Super duper pooper scooper" was hilarious, and really cool. Thank you very much for commenting on my poem "In Control" and understanding why it was sort of scary to post. Thank you very much!!!!

Thank you for finding my first attempt at a Villanelle to be worthy of mention. It was definitely a challenge and I whole heartedly agree on your choice for first place. Cinara's poem was flawless. My best to you.. Dear Balladeer. Mary Ann
  • symitar on June 23, 2003
Dear Mike, you are such a poet, your humor makes me laugh until my eyes water, your wit is extraordinary, your sensitivity to others is amazing, your thoughtfulness is very touching, always commenting on comments, and oh so complimentary all the time. Your challenges are unique, fun to do, frustrating as all get out, but they always make us think a little bit harder. For all these things, I thank you. I honor your work, even your turd poem and the enema epic, as they do show your sense of style and .. uh.. well, your style. We know we are all winners in your eyes, my friend, never worry about that. So glad you are here.
  • Balladeer on June 16, 2003
I thank you, Angel, for running such an excellent contest....and for picking me! Touching someone on an emotional level with our poetry is the best we can ask for and I'm happy mine did that for you...

Alan....I accept and appreciate your congrats. Thank you very much. I'm still fairly new here and had not understood very well the point system but I see that, with points, one can create contests and help motivate and push people toward creative goals. That's why I'm so pleased to win, to be able to use the points to help others. It's a good system and this is a wonderful place to be a part of. Thanks again!!
