I would greatly appreciate if you would critique my newest poems. They are lyrical in nature, but I am a poet first and a lyricist second, so I would like a poetic view on them before I try singing them. Thank you.
  • on July 27, 2004
Hey, you should write more poetry. And be online more. And IM me on yahoo. And... And... Just come back, I have stuff to say! And I know you do too... at least more poems, I hope.

Hey, Ashi...it appears as though I'm leaving the site. I am going to go to school in France soon. I going to miss your poetry. Maybe you'll give me your email?

Oh, I have one last contest for 1111 pnts. Called "The Surrealist Contest." I hope to see you enter.

  • MuseStalker on February 21, 2004
I must go and thank macandrew for sharing you with me. I am adding you to my favorites list. You are quite an awesome poet.
  • Cemetery Rose on February 12, 2004
Thanks for the explination! (for "oh! sweet nurse")
I think I may love it even more!
It actually reminded me of a patient at this psychiatric hospital I work at, he was yelling all day for the nurse to give him his meds and felt like 'the world was going to end'
    anyway...keep up the good work!
    Susan
ps I love Plath and Poe...two of my all time favorites! ( i know its so cliched!)
  • Ashi on February 7, 2004
nope, haven't read it yet. when it comes to books I'm more into writers like Orson Scott Card, Asimov, Clancy etc etc. You like Thomas Hardy?

  • philophant on February 7, 2004
Sorry I'm doing all the commenting on your author page, but while looking at the anthology list, I noticed that you have pretty much all the same books I do--minus all the Plath and the Stevie Smith woman. Tennyson, Wordsworth, Blake, Browning ("bake and burning"), Keats, Shakespeare, etc. Hmm. Thomas Hardy. Have you read his "Far from the Madding Crowd" novel? It's very Romanticky-era-ish.
  • Ashi on February 7, 2004
you would have had trouble spotting that since I added it today
I bought myself 9 new poetry bundles (Shakespeare, Keats, Tennyson, Blake, Browning, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Kipling and Fitzgerald) today so I decided to add that list.

  • philophant on February 7, 2004
Lookie here: a list of "anthologies" that you have...and among the Plaths and Poes there stands a "Stevie Smith." I shoulda spotted that earlier.
  • philophant on February 5, 2004
O, dang, I missed the art/poetry contest of yours. Ah well...I was writing one on Rodin's The Gates of Hell, but it takes me at least two weeks to revise, etc. sighs
  • Ashi on February 5, 2004
I think so, let me quickly go check in my original bought copy of edgar allan poe's the raven
  • philophant on February 5, 2004
A Dream within a Dream...mmm. Have you read To One In Paradise?
  • Saratis on January 28, 2004
write another poem Ashi... 99 is a cumbersome number .... now to read the fifty or so I missed....
  • Menohir on January 27, 2004
Hey Ashi DarkRain did NOT check the critique button.
  • FireoftheNight on January 27, 2004
Thanks for your punctuation tips and kind words. Its greatly appreciated.

  • Menohir on January 26, 2004
I told you "don't talk to strangers" is great.
  • Menohir on January 21, 2004
HAHAHAH..jeeeezz......I feel for you...you should watch you say Ashi, EVIL. Hey burrie, I won't be surprised if you can't sleep tonight. Don't feel bad about it, you didn't see it, I've never come across someone who didn't ask for a critique. You just try to help people out in this sight by improving their poetry skills, why would you go and try to bring people down. You are a good person, I know you only had the best intensions. But it's sad that people have these strives eventhough they all mean well. I see you've found my favourite lyrics, yes Agalloch I've always loved, I think I'll go put a song on my author page. See ya.
  • BrokenSouledPoetess on January 7, 2004
Just so you know...I did NOT check the critique button on my poems...I write what I write and it is all from the heart. If you do not like my writing, then that is fine...but please do not rip apart my poetry...it is mine...I do not force things...I just write what is in my head and heart to write. I would appreciate it if from now on, if you feel that you must comment on my poetry, if you would just not leave a comment if you have nothing nice to say. I can appreciate constructive criticism when I ask for it...but I do not ask for it too often. My poems are me and when they are ripped to shreds by someone who knows nothing of me...it hurts.

    Ahoy there young Ashi!

I just wanted to say welcome back and that I hope you had a pleasant holiday. You've been gone weeks, what have you been up to - anything fun? I've also been off work for the last fortnight, but have just been lazing around - something I'm very good at!

Anyways, take care and best wishes, Del.
  • philophant on November 18, 2003
thnkx for your comment on Madame Teacher. by the way, why is your screenname 'Ashi'? i thought for a minute you were one of my cousins (i have some cousins with the last name Achi).

ah, cool, you like dark stuff. so do i. i've written a few murder stories and such, and i love agatha christie. you like E. A. Poe! that's soo awesome! i love him and his stories. i just posted a poem 'One Stray'd from Paradise' in a readbe inspiredwrite contest, in response to his 'To One in Paradise'.

i looked at your poems. interesting. Satan Dressed in White...hahaha...what a priest...so you're Christian? are you Catholic or Protestant? i geuss you're Protestant, as few Catholics would write such a poem!

'I wore my silver cross and dressed in robes of white
for the creature, I believed, could not strike
a man so evidently part of God...
    Or so I thought.'

that is very accurate. once, when one of my little brothers was being baptized, another brother of mine took a picture of the priest's belly (i'm sure you know what kind of a paunch priests have.)
i attend a protestant church, but my dad was formerly Catholic, and so my little brother was baptized in the Catholic church when we went to see his family in Lebanon.

i'm new to this site. i like it, but one can never tell...there's a kindof alot of crap...i've mainly stayed on Oldpoetry.

well, until we meet again Ashi. aurevoir!

You said that should I want to hear another poem like the one you put on my author page, I should just say so. Well, I love that poem, it was great, can you recommend anything else?(or anyone)

Besides that I just wanted to say that I've read some of your poems and I really like them. *two thumbs up* and now I'm off to read more......
    lol,

I'm on one of your favourite authors? i feel special! yes, my poems are depressing, but im working on that, you notice the small filtering of happy pagan poems in there? i know its not your idea of "happy," but its what makes me happy! dark poetry is my specialty, and what im good at. youre good at being happy and making people feel good. *smiles*

    blessed be

    thanks for your encouraging comments.

yes, traditionally the western haiku was 5.7.5 but these days it's more like 17 syllables or under - some think the fewer the words the better the haiku. the important thing with them is to create pictures (using the 5 senses) rather than writing statements in lines.

haiku are great to try cause they taught me how to write images...
  • Saratis on September 17, 2003

Woo, I hate to do this to ya man, but I'm gonna go through and comment on every one of your poems..I've been reading them and they are excellent, and I feel that they deserve the attention. Rock on.
  • Amphion on September 9, 2003
i appreciate you offer to help me in my work, but i would rather let my own mind censor my poetic side. your offer is kind, yet not accepted. now i gotta check out your stuff.

How's it going Ashi? I'm glad you liked my poem. I did choose the name Loui for a reason. Since my question was pretty much if people have a choice in their evil actions I thought it was appropriate to call him Loui. Short for Lucifer. I hope you enter my contest still. I started it by thanking you. C ya Rico

how can i follow all these great comments? but since you commented on my information, i shall now return the favour.

so, youve actually counted the hours and how many animes you have seen? nah, i could never do that. im just not commited. i enjoy your poems alot and am very suprised you like mine... ::checks my book:: nope, youre the first one that like them besides others on this site. wow, didnt know so many nice people were in the world. damn, ive been proved wrong again. humanity is... good!?!

you know what i just realized? InuYasha is back on adult swim. YAAAAY!!!!! bah, im a freak. if you get cartoon network, tune in tonight at midnight. less about me, more about you. uhhhh... the best thing i can say is that youre nice. youre actually nice to me. in real life, you may hate me, but on here, youre a nice person. hardly anyone is nice to me anymore. thank you.

done with my rant. have a nice life, and please dont be depressed again. its hell.

    Hey.
    Welcome to Ap!
I've read enough of your work to be absolutely certain that you're a gifted writer. I love the collab you wrote for the contest. That truly is a beautiful and stunning piece. Then reading "a dead child's words", I was shocked to find myself surprised that your talent is not just retained in one genre, but in many. They were both very well written piece. Keep writing, and Thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to reading more.
