I know of a woman, so tender and caring
Kindness and love is what she is sharing
The feelings she shows so deep in her heart
Is one of the things that sets her apart

The eighth wonder of the world she could be
Set high atop a mountain for all to see
I look to the sky with stars that shine
And her sweet smile is what comes to mind

When I awake my thoughts are of her
Her face so gentle and eyes that stir
The beauty she possesses inside and out
Is something so few will know about

    moments stack like building blocks
    some in bright colorful hues
    and others in pastel blues
oneday a moment comes to dock
    within a hidden sandy shore
    sets its anchor wide, skindeep,
    gets comfortable in the sweep
    of time having reached forevermore

Whoo, thanks a ton for the many kind words and comments...they all are much appreciated! I'm glad that you found something you like...if you find my muse hanging around somewhere send her over, I'm hardly writing enough at the moment I shall stop by your page as soon as I find the time...in any way, thank you!
  • Afxb on September 1, 2006
You are going onto my favourites list! I like your comments about writing. There isn't really a choice. Those comments about "crafted" poems and direct heartaching shouts are apt too.

New friends are of course always most welcome and appreciated, especially if they share the same love for poetry and the written word in general I had the awkward experience of not being able to spot an adjective at uni today, so be assured - my grammar really isn't good as well! Thanks for stopping by, will make sure to pay your poems a visit later on!
  • Barefoot on April 21, 2006
Thank you very much for your words, and for the editing. Me grammar is ver bad. You have a new friend if you like, I appreciate your artist statement. (and your motto is now added to my list of favorites.)
I look forward to your works... having only sipped from the glass but wanting the entire bottle. Patience first.

What a fantastic feeling to have someone,(you) Understand the imagery and emotions in that poem . I guess it takes a poet to relate to a poet. Sometimes the words flow and click into place. The best poem is a flash poem. Not too much thinking, but pondering the next word or line does take time if you are stumped. Then sometimes those combinations happen or they sit there like a lump of gravy blocking the flow. Hope I make sense. It's 4 in the morning . Can't sleep. Guess I'll write. Thank you.

I think there are many people on Allpoetry whose native language isn't English - including me My mother tongue is German, but I can't write poetry in German for God's sake...it becomes all verbose and pompous, so by now I actually prefer writing in English. It started simple, though, because I didn't see much sense in writing love poems for a person who wouldn't understand them in the first place - especially as I wanted to impress him mightly, of course

To me, poetry is not about grammar or definitions or whatever - it is, like you put it so nicely, the supra-essential expression of the soul. This is what I am searching for in poetry, and this is what I try to convey - AP certainly did help me grow and always provided some inspiration for me...it is nice to share your work, and it is nice to be able to read the work of others, noticing that indeed there are more people who seem to have the same thoughts.

I'll stop rambling now! It's a pleasure to meet you - I've never met somebody from Brazil, so it's actually a double pleasure! *hugs*
  • lelike on February 22, 2006
This is to leave a note in your Guestbook. I loved your presentation and I need to write some words on my page too. Just to justify why on earth I am trying to write poetry in English. I am Brazilian, living in Sao Paulo and I’m not really fluent in spoken English. My natural language is Portuguese. I write some poetry in Portuguese too. But I was attracted to Allpoetry. Maybe just because there are poets like you, anonymous, that share the same space and breathe the same poetic air. Pen pals, perhaps. Virtual pen pals sharing poetry, the supra-essential expression of the soul. May this be possible? Only on poetry. Nice to meet you. I’ll see your poems and comment them. (P.S. I also keep some poems to myself...Restricted Area). Lelike

Oh, I whole-heartedly agree! It seems that the stuff you write out of some real need is better than the stuff you polished for uncounted hours...my boyfriend once said "Sometimes you write to write, and I like that. But if you write to speak - that's what I love"...and as his word is law (hehe) I'll try to write to speak

Anyway, now I'm rambling on and on (let's just say it's not a bad thing) - I'm glad you're feeling better again! Thanks for stopping by!
  • Anna Kay on November 15, 2005
Praise where praise is due - it certainly was a deserved trophy! I'm glad that my contest could spark some inspiration, I was hoping that it would...now I only need to find mine again, hehe.

thank you very much for the recognition of my poem in your contest, you had many entries and to have placed is a real honour for me...i have not written much lately and your contest was an excellent inspiration. i am happy you liked the poem, and thank you for the points you sent me. 'spider' was inspired by my late night visits after work in the city of new orleans when i lived there...it was a wonderful city sometimes, and it is never going to be the same. thanks again for the high compliments.

I appreciate your comment on "Natures Communication" and Im far more than pleased that you enjoyed it. That poem was written on a day where evidently I felt hopeless under the early clouded morning. The people I was sorrounded by were happy and I myself was dwelling on a fight I had with the potential love of my life. But when I was sitting upon that rock, looking out into the sea, I realized that it is just part of life. And its lifes imperfections as well as natures imperfections that can make reality so beautiful. Once again, I thank you for your comment. Take care.
  • Anna Kay on July 1, 2005
Well, thanks for stopping by I guess! I did not take your poem all too serious, and I was mildly amused - which was basically the reason why I posted a comment.

You got a point in what you say, definitely, but it's a point I don't agree with. Just because Utopia can never work out - which goes for communism as well - doesn't make it a bad idea. If you are not even willing to try to invest into a better world this is actually very sad. Any form or attempt of socially reasonable equal system is to be preferred over complete corruption and greed. That is my opinion, and you are not going to change it.

To all of you who read “LIBERALS!!!”…it is not a poem I was writing my main AP page and got side-tract and worked up over an issue that is of the utmost importance. I did not think before I typed and it showed. Generally I am very thorough in all fields of discussion and frankly I am embarrassed that those of you who took it seriously, did. However seeing your reactions I am now in a mildly depressed state, not because you crucified an obscenely green piece of work, but because you actually believe what you wrote.

Here is what I meant by “LIBERALS!!!”

Communism, socialism, liberalism, and various forms of wealth distribution are fundamentally watered down forms of Utopianism. None of them work for two reasons. The first reason: those who come to power will be perverted by it if they stay in power too long. No matter how noble, honest, trustworthy, or unselfish a leader is when he/she comes to ‘office‘, they will be corrupted if they are exposed to any form of power. The effects may be permanent, or they may not. An old saying goes, “Power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely.” The big three, communism, socialism, liberalism, all require a person, party, or group to have absolute power. > The second reason the big three will not work: debt is not a sickness, as some would believe. True it shares many traits with a virus or bacterial infection, but at the core meaning of their existence they are completely different. A sickness harms. Debt is a necessity that a working culture must have. An analogy for you: “What is light without dark?” Debt is something a person must experience in someway to even slightly understand, respect, and enjoy ‘wealth’, or just the absence of debt. Debt and poverty go hand in hand most of the time, the only difference between them is this; Debt is a state of owning something , poverty is a state of not having something, it is also a state of living. The big three want to kill poverty, a logical person would say “Good Luck.” If you have a man/woman that is $1,000,000 in debt that person is thinking that life for them is basically over. Now lets take the magical mystical liberal wand of social security and grant them relief of debt (because that is what redistribution of wealth is). The first thing that person is going to do : celebrate. Guess what? Now they’re in debt again. “Why? How?” you ask. Simple they have no respect for what got them in that position in the first place. “Well maybe he/she changed ?” Don’t be naive. If a person does not work for what they want they will not respect it nor will they respect themselves when they get it. A person who thinks that the world should just give them what they want is a slave to those who give to them. (A liberals main supporter.) Debt is not a sickness. A sickness can be treated, it can be cured. Debt cannot be cured. The magical liberal wand of social security is a powerful pain killer but if it is matched up against total debt it is not going to do a bit of good. When I refer to the magical liberal wand of social security I am referring to a social security system that would have access to all wealth in the private sector. Total debt far outweighs total wealth. Look at it this way: “What is one US dollar or one Euro divided by 3.2 billion?” Not a hole effing lot is it? The only way to destroy debt is to destroy money and the notion of money. That is never going to happen.
“Why can’t it happen ?” Because we are human. Maybe you can change but can you force your neighbor to change? If you answer ‘Yes’ to this then by God I pity you and fear you. That ‘yes’ means taking away that person’s right to decide for him/herself, and it means you are a monster. NO that means you are the vilest form of evil, and I am not calling names , I am being deadly serious, to the point that my eyes mist. If you said ‘yes’ then you are no better than Hitler, the Nazis, the old communist regime of the USSR, or anyone who lacks a soul just like you do.
The idealistic forms of communism, socialism, and liberalism would be great if they could work but they can’t. They are based on the notion that everyone is good and will put everyone else before themselves. Need any logical person say a thing about that notion. The big three fall under one thing: Utopianism -a utopia is a land that does not exist.
If you believe in any of the big three, or believe in the tiniest shadow of them, then my hat is off to you. Because you display pure faith. Pure, blind, ignorant, undiluted faith. I only wish I could trust like that, but a little thing called reality stops me from doing so. I can’t wake you up, you have to do that for yourself. Another quote for you : “Enlightenment is not for those who need it, it is for those who want it.”

I hope you read this through completely, because I want to make one thing painfully clear: I did not write this to call names, start fights, or to disprove anyone. I wrote it because I believe it with every fiber of my being, and that is never going to change. If you feel the same way about your beliefs, I would like to call you my friend. If you don’t want to fine I got plenty.

For those of you who did not take “LIBERALS!!!” seriously…Good for you! I wrote it to be funny. And to see what would happen If I did write it.

    Hit points:
    This was not homework.
Spell check is not worth a flip.
I don’t care what you think
If any of you press your views on this subject on other people then I will hunt you down.
I expect the same from you.
The communist idea that every one is equal is more like this: “Some animals are more equal than others.”

You are very good with a keyb. sorry its a little long

Your intro here to yourself and your work is so wonderful. It has the relaxing feel of clean honesty that begs one to read on. - a lovely welcome mat indeed.
  • forty-one on June 12, 2005
I don't think you should be so secretive with your work. We all share the same passions here for poetry, and you may find that there is someone in desperate need of something only you hold the key to. There is always room for improvement, and hopefully you will find it here. Let all of your emotions flow into the pages of your work, if not only to free yourself, but to norish the countless minds that need it. Let the world feast on your passion for poetry, because God loves givers, not takers.
Best of luck in life, and love!

Sniffsniff, thank you, I'm fluttered! You are all so nice, almost makes me suspicious! (No, not really) Somebody should have told me that this is addictive, though...
Besides, thanks for hosting a great contest! It really appealed to me when I was browsing through a bit! So, the pleasure is all mine!

"as necessary as sleeping, eating, drinking, breathing and feeling." It's so true!
It's really good that you feel inspired and 'safe' with writing here, I feel exactly the same. Some of my poetry and stuff has been found and destroyed in the past so I grew pretty insecure about it, but when my friend introduced me to AllPoetry I could hardily stop the flow of poetry out of my fingers!
Welcome to the site, and thanks again for entering my contest! I love your style of writing. Keep it flowing honey,
    Polly xxx
