Ancientson : Hi on November 22You're right about the "all work and no play" comment. I blew a gasket in my noggin a while back. I have moved to Colorado in the meantime and my job is great. I love the Rockie Mountains.

angelica : G'DAY OLD FRIEND on July 4, 2007Hi Dirk, It's been a long while since we've spoken. I came across an old comment you made when Bob was ill, so I thought I'd pop in and say hello.
How's life been treating you?
I lost my youngest Son almost 11 months ago of a Heart attack, he was 38.
Hope all is well with you.

Deke on December 26, 2004Hello Dirk, I didn't know your Dad, but wish that I had. I have heard much about him since he died. You and I are neighbors by the way. I am from Greenbrier, Arkansas--a little north of Conway (about 14 miles) on U.S. highway 65. I read one of your poems and because of it I am putting you on my favorites list.

CookieZeal on December 21, 2004Heyyyyyyy!! It's great to see you here. I'm sure that I'm going to enjoy reading someone who was related to one of the most special people in this forum. He made all of us thrilled with his work, and he must've done something right to have you to carry it on! lol.
Welcome! Warmly, CookieZeal -
catz on December 20, 2004Hi, Dirk
And a big welcome to allpoetry, a place I'm sure you'll enjoy as much as your father did. I know he's pleased that you joined us. I'm one of the many who have enjoyed his poetry and lived with him those last months of his life. His poetry lives within all of us who shared his love, his caring and his wonderful poetry.
I've read just one of your poems so far, having just been directed to your site a few minutes ago. I was very pleased, too. It's a beautiful poem.
Warm wishes and much love

Hello Dirk. It is good to meet you and glad to have a aboard. Your dad was loved by many on this site, including myself. I am one of many he shared his music with. I always looked forward to his postings and it is so good to know his son is now here with us. I have not been around much lately but hope to soon be back in full swing. Again, welcome to AP.

Touchof1der on December 18, 2004Hello Dirk! What a blessing it is to find Jean's son here on Allpoetry. Your father was a very compassionate man and although I came in during the last several months of his time here, he was always such a great source of encouragement and inspiration for me. Welcome!
~Kimberly

rufina caraid on December 18, 2004Hello Dirk - I'm Von Jeans 'Adopted Daughter on AP' He and I were great friends, I phoned him a couple of times and he shared his music with me, stuff that he recorded after your Mother passed. I loved and admired him, and as you move around the site you will se that other people did too. I recently copied his music for Angelica as a gift to her from Jean as she too holds him in high regard.
He spoke of you and your brothers and sister and sent me a photograph of you all, also of your Mother and he. they were the most handsome couple.
I feel so happy that you have joined AP, not just as a link back to your Dad but as a poet in your own right, and maybe , just maybe your Dad's wit and humour and his simplistic view on life will shine through you now that he has passed on.
I miss him so much, both he and my own Father passed over within days of each other and I didn't know until I came home to Australia after being in England for my Fathers funeral and like Angelica visit his page now and then to leave a message for him.
Welcome Dirk, it feels good to have you here, I look forward to reading your work.
Best Wishes and a big
From Von
