I'm 26 years old, i'm from Puerto Rico. I live with my mother & grandmother. Currently i am my grandmother's caretaker, though later this year i am going back to school to study Graphic Arts. I enjoy spending a lot of time on the computer, making graphics & what not.
My poetry for the most part is personal. I rarely write about something that hasn't happened to me. I wrote my first poem when i was 16 years old. It was completely spontaneous. I saw an ad for a Poetry Contest, and thought it would be fun. I didn't win the contest, but my poem did get published by The National Library of Poetry. Since then poetry has been a kind of escape. Even though i've been writing for 10 years, my collection isn't that big. I don't force myself to write, i only do it when I'm truly inspired. Usually i write down snippets that come to mind at any given moment on a notebook. Then at a later time i go over them and construct poems based on the snippets written before.
I am glad to have found this great community, and i am looking forward to reading some great poetry & sharing some of mine.
