It was nearly time, almost - but not quite yet
As a lone dust devil swirled above the dirt street -
Moon hanging low o'er dusty plain
rattler searching for warmth -
Caught up in sun and sweat and dust,
And never ending trail, -

Unlike in the movies, there was no slapping of leather,
Each man was ready to fight and held his gun in his hand, -
Some men went to fight some other men,
I’m not sure why, but shots were exchanged, -

Oh Come to me Children
and You I shall tell -
The bleeding heart of Rosie O’Hern,
to all her friends was cause for concern.

The tale of the West ‘tis a tale of wonder,
carried forever by the cowboy’s thunder.
