Updated 12/14/06
This picture was taken at my niece's wedding back in May of 1998. The whole family had a wonderful time. I have done a poem for her youngest when she turned one year old.
I believe I have many different styles, but form poetry has to be my favorite. I love trying new forms when I see them written and I have so many more to do yet. Wish me luck.
My husband has been very encouraging and if I can get enough good works together I would love to publish a book of poems all my own. I enjoy dedicating my works to my husband, my family, and friends that inspire my thoughts.
Update 9-29-05, I really enjoy form poetry. I love rhyming and thanks to a wonderful poet here at AP, Pamela A Lamppa, I have learned some great form works. She has been very inspiring and so encouraging. Not to mention the help when I have messed up on a particular form, recalling my first kyrielle as I mention that. I will give free verse a try again. But, before I do that it is another villanelle that I want to come up with. Very challenging and I am going to call upon my muse with the loudest voice I can muster before I attempt it again.
I have already added a number of favorites after reading their works here.
So many in fact that this silly place keeps telling me to keep it to 50 or less as I continue adding...LOL
I don't want to list them all as I fear I may miss somebody and that would be dreadful.
I try to be genuinely happy as much as possible and always have a smile for others, it is amazing how many people will say hello and smile back when you do this.
For everyone who has commented or applauded my work so far I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I will always return the favor when I see your wonderful works. Have a great day and remember, keep smiling you never know who's watching!

The following are writes that other poets have done for me.
My Sunny Mummy
Sunniest of days
And most beautiful of hearts
My Sunny Day Mummy is the best.
She’s scrummy, she’s yummy, she’s really, really funny,
She’ll have you in stitches
‘Cause she’s the richest of the comically expressed.
My mentor and my friend, she’s guided me ‘round the bends
Through thick and thin, happy and sad
I’ve always had my Sunny Mummy.
For all you folks who have yet to feel it
You’ll spend years trying to unreel it!
Cause my Funny Sunny Mummy’s love is never-ending.

Scent soothing
under trees, unraveled
near edged nirvana;
needing the newness
youth delivered. Yearning
drained upon discovery.
Arousal illuminates arid

arid, illuminates arousal.
Discovery upon drained
yearning, delivered youth.
Newness. The needing
nirvana edged near
unraveled trees under

Magical praise
by starhiker on Sep 03
Kudos to you, my sunny day,
Undying hope you send my way,
Doing what noone else can do,
Ordering wishes to come true,
Showing me pictures that are yours,
Taking me places on far shores.
Open your heart and hear my voice,
Your poems make my heart rejoice,
Often your poems speak to me,
Unknowing how the next will be,
Magical praise I give to you,
You can make chaos fade, subdue.
Sunny day, you can take a rest,
Undoubtedly you are the best,
Nobody else come even close,
Never think you are less than those,
Yes, you know who I talk about,
Do not fill up your heart with doubt.
And I must tell you at the end,
You will forever be my friend.
Jim, my friend, AP brother and fellow starhiker. As we traverse the galaxies filled with poetry by one and all, you will be at the helm captain. Thank you for this wonderful tribute.

Sunny day, you rock!
by Ray Von on Sep 10
I was once wandering around the AP hall
and then somebody started to call
it was Joyce bringing joy to my heart
and once I started reading I realised her art.
When she writes poetry
her heart illuminates the room
as she brings happiness to all
and light to us that are dark.
So if you ever come across her
don't go away
for you are dealing with
sunny day!

Sunflowers Bloom (A Kyrielle)
by Pamela A Lamppa on Sep 27
Sunflowers Bloom
Morning opens innocent charm.
Yesterday's stress she shall disarm
with beaming smile put on display.
Sunflowers bloom for Sunny Day.
Petals of yellow light her face
with eyes that sparkle gentle grace.
Should one happen to pass her way;
sunflowers bloom for Sunny Day.
The tale she'll tell will be for you,
where grass is greened with misted dew,
and with her light a golden ray,
sunflowers bloom for Sunny Day.
Her sturdy stem is friendship found
with happy blooms to dance around
and revel in her caring way.
Sunflowers bloom for Sunny Day!

She sits.
Tea in hand
steaming aromatic
relaxation
as snowflakes
fall gently beyond
the window pane.
Enjoying that it is.
Taking tender moment.
Reading hearts of love.
Crying for their tears.
Thoughts overwhelm.
Emotions surface.
Humanity felt
her single tear
and cared to dry it.
She sips.

Forbidden Romance (Sunny Day's Cento)
by Pookiebubu on Oct 08
A time widows will ne`er forget
Middle aged housewife, college boy,
While sitting on the balcony.
Thinking of how he was laughing
Knowing she has more than one muse
Playful she was,
Not just physically, but also in mind,
Overcoming past sorrows and strife.
He says I'll help you through this,
Awaiting what will soon transpire,
Hoping fully to display
Precious moments
Soft and sweet, just like the moonlight
Knowing some day this will all end,
left here feeling so alone.

Your spirit lights up the days when all seems dark and pointless.
With your encouraging words, kindness and love, you walk me from the darkness and into the light.
Your aura is brighter than even the sun, radiating warmth and care to all those you meet and making their days worthwhile.
Your understanding runs deeper than a trees’ roots; your beautiful smile echoes like a friendly voice.
Your magical words give me hope.
So whenever I feel down, I look to the sun.
There I see you.
I smile, for I never know who’s watching.

Sunny Day
by SushaneMason on Oct 21 (Story)
As I walked by the bus station with the cold wind caressing my head, I turned my face to see you sitting on the seat all by yourself. Others seemed to be disgusted by you but something enforced me to say something to you.
I went over and sat next to you. You had on dilapidated shoes with a green coat that seemed to be covering your hunched back. You looked really cold and instantly my heart reached out for you. I looked at your face and it seemed all the color had been drained from your face. You turned to face me with a warm smile; my heart melted. I wanted to get you out of the cold and give you something warm to drink.
"Hi." I said. You looked down at your feet that were barely covered by your pink socks.
"Hi." You finally responded and I was grateful.
"I'm Sue."
"I'm Sunny." You said.
"Nice name." Your name symbolizes you. I could see why they gave you that name. Even in the most dreadful and grey winter, your smile made it seem so warm outside.
"Do you mind if I take you home with me so I can get you out of the cold and get you a warm drink?" Your eyes looked into mine and they too smiled. You had the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen.
"If you don't mind."
"I don't mind at all," I said," it will be my pleasure." You nodded yes.
I took your hand and walked you to my car. I had my work on the front seat and I moved it so you could sit.
"Are you a business person?" You asked. I smiled at your curiosity. "No, why do you ask?". "Because of all the papers you had on the seat."
"Oh, I write stories and poems. I want to get published so that's what those papers are. They're stories I wrote." Again, your eyes glistened and you seemed so excited. "What kind of stories do you write?"
"I write romance stories."
"Can I see what you've written?"
"Sure, I don't know if they're any good though." I handed you what I've written so far and you busied yourself reading. Upon reaching home, you looked at me with a serious face. I thought I had offended you.
"These are really great, you're a talented writer and these are proof that you are." Tears welled up in my eyes as I listened to a complete stranger telling me how great my writing is.
"Let's go in inside" I said.
I unlocked the door and you stepped inside. Your bright eyes searched around my apartment then back at me. They have so much hope.
"Where are you from?" I asked. Your expression told me you weren't ready to talk about it so instead you said,"Do you mind if I get something to drink first.?" I shook my head no.
"Do you want to take a shower first? My clothes seem they might be able to fit you. You could go inside when your finished and put on anything you like." You nodded OK.
While I was in the kitchen getting hot chocolate, I couldn't help but wonder who you were and where did you come from; I had a connection to you somehow. I retreated to the living room and sat on the couch dazing out. You came and tapped me on the shoulder. You had on a pair of blue jeans and white tee. I smiled at you. I handed you your hot chocolate and wanted to ask you about your back. As you took a sip, I said," Do you mind if I ask you something?"
"No" you said.
"Why do you have a hunch?" You looked at me but I couldn't read your expression.
"Can I get some napkins please?" I nodded yes. When I returned to my living room, instead of seeing Sunny, I saw a white glow, and a familiar face. You were dressed in all white and you had wings. I stood in my spot, afraid to move.
"Don't be scared Sue" I wondered how you knew my name.
"You want to know how I knew your name, don't you?" I nodded yes.
"My name is Joyce but my earthly name is Sunny." I gulped.
"But how did you? How come you? But you? I was at loss for words for the first time in my life.
"Why me?" was all I could ask.
"I'm your guardian angel. This was all a test. I pretended to be homeless to see if you would notice me. You did, I knew you would. I've always watched over and believed in you. You saw me despite of how I looked and you took me into your home. I know you want to be a writer but you have your doubts. I had to show you that you are a very talented writer and to drive all doubts away." You walked over to me and touched my face, I stared into your familiar eyes, still I couldn't believe what was going on in front of me; inside my apartment.
"Allow your mind and soul to accept this. I know this is hard for you to accept but I also know you will because that's who you are. You're beautiful both inside and out. I'll always be with you." I closed my eyes for a minute trying to rationalize everything and when I opened them you were gone. I looked around, thinking to myself I was dreaming? My fingers were closed around something in my hand I hadn't noticed before and when I opened them I saw one of your feathers. "You'll always be with me," I thought and smiled to myself.

To Sunny Day, my AP Angel, you've inspired me in so many ways, I've lost count. This is my gratification to you.Thank you for all you've done, Sue.
Sue, You call me your angel, although I don't think I am worthy of that I will humbly accept it. You have allowed me into your life through AP and that is a start. I am always in awe of your stories and to have one done for me is beyond words. My heart is pounding and the tears are still in my eyes. I will always be there for you, pushing you onward as long as you let me. I have to ask your forgiveness now as I did do some editing when I put this on my page, if you are not in agreement with that for any reason just let me know and I will take this off and copy your original with no changes at all. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. Love and God bless, Joyce (sunny day)
Earthly Angel.
by SushaneMason on Oct 21
Looking back when we first met
You promise never to leave me.
You held on tight to my hand,
You said you'll never let go
Until I'm on my way back home.
You held me,
unfolded me,
believed in me,
molded me,
carried me,
shaped me,
chose me,
put your wings around me.
I didnt believe in earthyly Angels
Till the day we met and
you showed me your wings.
You directed me,
inspired me,
I thought I was dreaming,
never knew dreams could come true.
You consoled me,
embraced me,
hugged me,
comforted me,
bless me,
put your wings around me.

Author's Questions/Comments
My friend Joyce (sunny day) gave me a tip about this contest, and she sent me a file on how to write an "English language" Ghazal. I decided to write the first one in her honor, but it could be used for any friendship. I tried following the rules - as stated in What is a ghazal? by Erin Thomas, at allpoetry.com/Column/784848 - and think I managed it.
Beher - 8 syllables, iambic
Qaafiyaa - "a sunny day"
Radif - ending with -ine
Takhallus - "Starhiker"
Jim, My AP brother and dear friend. What you have done for me here fills my heart with so much love and happiness. This is absolutely fantastic.
You captured my heart with this. Thank you from the bottom of it.

ACROSTIC SUNNY DAY PIXIELICIOUS
Sunny Day a pixie name
Under Crystaldust's domain
No sadness reigns
Nor killjoy of any type
You allow in your light.
Darling pixie you remain
As your heart entertains
You and all pixie friends.
Pixies delight goading trolls
In realms so very old
Xylophones made of dew
I pop as music for you.
Every pixie dances in
Love with silly grins.
I see your smile
Crease with pixie guile.
I laugh with you
On toadstools so new
Underneath the twilight blue
Sharing eternity with you.

Author's Questions/Comments
My cousin and sister pixie Sunny Day is from down under the glen and over a toadstool. I was accused of a pixie fetish however I only give joy and get no erotic anything from being pixielicious. Pixies make joyous wit and whimsey to cure the hearts of children and mankind while loving the world since we eat light, joy and love. Those who only think dark I have only two words for you. Oh Poo. Ciao now.
Janet, My very pixie-full AP cousin, spreading light and love has done me so much honor with this wonderful poem you just read. Thank you so much for your words that make me smile and warm my heart eternally. It is such a joy having you in our family. Pixies do rock!!!!!

sunny day
by Laura Lamarca on Jan 10
In Category: Love, Personal.
Sometimes life can seem dismal and grey.
Something bad happens to dampen my day.
When there are dark clouds, only weighted night.
sunny day smiles on me and washes me in light.
She fills me with courage and holds my hand.
When crying in disbelief, she understands.
When smiles are rare and very hard to find.
sunny day gives hers, an unconditional kind.
So Thank You, sweet sunny day, for lighting my sky.
For doing so gladly, without questioning why.
For believing and trusting and encouraging me.
For holding my scared hand quite happily.

When I get to my office
The first thing I do
Is log on All Poetry
And seek kind words from you
Kind words I know
For a fact will be there
Because I know you're watching
And I know you care
From the first poem I shared
With this community
You were there with a comment
Encouraging me
And when I feel like my talent
Has long disappeared
You read my sloppy rants
They become art when you're near
There are days that I feel
That my writing is pointless
When I post a poem
That gets zero comments
But sooner or later
Sunny Day is there
With all the love and support
That she has to share

Be dependent enough to need his help, and independent enough to help him.
Do things for yourself that will please him.
Do things for him . That will please you.
Surprises are the fuel which keep the home fires burning.
Just remember that too much fuel can burn the home.
This is dedicated to a special couple that I met through my sister Kelly.
Jeff and Joyce a wonderful couple who live a loving life.
Please accept this small gift.

Sunny Day
by Inside and out on Apr 01
In Category: Other, Society, Spiritual.
When God created Joyce,
he threw the mold away.
This kind and gentle angel,
her screen name Sunny Day.
Her eyes coloured hazel.
They tear with empathy.
She sees the world as God does,
choosing to seek beauty.
A heart filled with compassion,
that flows right through her veins.
When all others let you down,
her loyalty remains.
Blessed with creativity,
Intelligence and calm.
Her voice so soft and soothing,
emits a healing balm.
Her hands were made to nurture,
so tenderly they hold.
She shares her love through poems,
each one dusted with gold.
We are blessed to have Sunny Day in our lives.

Smiles for Miles
by juffle242 on May 22
Divine intervention was not your intention,
But you helped me re-ignite my light.
Your velvet voice conveyed in the form of text
Has reminded me of the person I am.
Your beauty radiates from your caring core.
Eloquent statements of reassurance and understanding.
Time is the most precious element in life
And you have invested time in me.
Time others let pass by.
It is hard to express in words what I mean.
How today I stand a little straighter
With the bounce in my step that I have not had in years.
I am glad to see him again
And you did that for me.
A smile can get you a little way down the road of life.
They make your voyage easier through all the trials.
You have made my days a little brighter.
And you my friend have given me smiles for miles.
Thank You

Words can not all go in a poem with how much you've done. Being one of the first to reach your hand out to me.
I sometimes can be rebellious, shocking, and stubborn you've stuck with me.
Doing job duties and being a busy bee we don't have much time to talk (so busy you've failed to put me on your BIO page But I forgive you )and hang out but whenever I am in need of my momma your there with arms wide open.
Your never one to judge or put down like half of society does.
I wish all mommas would look to you and become a better parent.

Sharing B-nannies
Under the tree of poetry
Never a nasty word spoken
Not from Joyce; she’s such a lady
Young or old, big or small she loves us all
.
Days come and days go, but friendly
Angels like Joyce will always be here, all
Year round, loving you ... Joyce our sunny day

-
A sparkling sea; your eyes so blue,
on rose petals, fresh morning dew. -
Moonlit nights; a sweet sounding sonata,
musical notes softly filling the air. -
Asked what I wanted to be when I grew up,

Covered in oil I can no longer fly,
it's hard to breathe and slowly I'm dying. -
