Western Fireflies
Joss Whendon is the overall mastermind behind the creation of Firefly. It has become such a most beloved series that all of the fans still have Firefly parties even though they took it off air. Taken off air in 2002 Joss Whendon still does not plan to give up. After only showing 11 episodes the viewers have been soaked in like a sponge wanting more. This sci-fi action adventure has every heart warming fan crawling just to get the movie. Which for some reason they named Serenity. Seeing how that’s the ship’s name it would make sense. Directed by David Solomon, the angles hit the story like cement. It was dead on for exactly the thing people wanted to see. But personally I would’ve given Shepard Books a much bigger part in the movie. He came in for one scene and then we watched him and those around him die. In reality he played a much bigger part in the TV series. The deaths however were not original to movies but original to what might happen if we were living like they were. Tragic it was to lose such valuable characters it however fits perfectly with the story. Ending with a positive humor from the captain made us leave knowing there will be more Firefly. No matter how hard they the movie producers try. They will never be able to end the greatest creation we have finally received.
Placed 500 years after our time war has broke out once again. The Alliance’s goal is to take control of all soon to be terri-formed planets and all of its inhabitants. A goal which made them the ones to be most favored to win. A few people tried to prevent this however. They are called the Browncoats. The Browncoats wanted freedom and independence. Most Browncoats were all volunteers with little to no fighting experience. But even with this minor setback they had a grand fight to the end. But evidently they lost.
Now! The newly terri-formed worlds have been corrupted. The Alliance has no trouble slaughtering those who do not bid by their rules. Leaving the planets that weren’t wealthy for the rebellion thieves to thrive upon. The “outlaws” have taken a theme of the old western. Besides murdering and experimenting on the people, the Alliance has done something much more horrific. Trying to stop the violence, they tried to calm the nervous system of first the people from the planet Miranda. It was also the last try. It had worked on a few of the people. Only it backfired. The people eventually stopped fighting but also everything else. They didn’t go to work, leave their house, soon they just stopped breathing. However some had the opposite effect. They instead grew more violent. They’re called Revers. They will never sleep and they never lay down. Carnivores these once humans are. Revers will tear off your skin and eat you still alive. They will eventually kill you. Even then your body is of use for them. Revers decorate their ships with the red painted blood of their victims. Then they will use your bones as symbols to show just how non merciful they can be. People believe they are only a myth; but if they do then they’ve never been to the pitch black edge of the universe.
The alliance had won the war. Now they’ve created the deadliest of man made creatures that could end up making all humans extinct. They were the favored to win. Now their tampering with the human nervous system could and would become the end to all that still draws breath.
Shepard Book’s name says it all. He’s a Shepard from a small village. Now he’s a traveling Shepard looking for adventure. And boy does he get his wish. Of course he also has plenty of time to preach his words of wisdom to the crew. “How we treat our dead is part of what makes us different from those that did the slaughtering.”
Kaylee was the one to gather a few of the crew that we know and love today. Kaylee’s the ship Serenity’s, mechanic. She knows everything to anything there is about machines. Even more than those that have been around for a few years. Although she is smart she is no nerd. Capable of finding the greatest in people and things in the worst of situations, her humor is one key factor that still keeps the crew going. “Oh, well let’s see: killed Simon and River, stole a bunch of medicine and now the Captain and Zoë are off springing the others got snatched by the Feds. Oh, and here they come now.”
Simone and River also boarded when Shepard Books did thanks to Kaylee. But the crew had only found out about River when they woke her up from her frozen slumber. Simon, River’s older brother is one of the greatest Doctors there will ever be with an attitude. Only he gave all of his bright futures to save his little sister River. “You know, I’ve saved lives. Dozens. Maybe hundreds. I re-attached a girl’s leg. Her whole leg. She named her hamster after me. I got a hamster. He drops a box of money, he gets a town.”
River has been experimented since she was about 13. It was the Alliance’s doing of course. She was incredibly smart. Smarter than any other human should’ve been. So they poked around with her brain. They turned this young girl into a human weapon. She’s not powerful she can’t even control her abilities. They happen instinctively. She and Simon don’t even know what they did to her brain. But they do find out eventually. No thanks to an untrustworthy crew mate Jayne. Because of his greediness the Alliance got him to go against his mates and nearly got everyone killed. “Mal. Bad. In the Latin.”
Jayne’s the trigger happy outlaw that’ll do anything for the right price. Even though he nearly got killed for betraying the crew; this sex crazy: explosives lover is still a most valid member of the crew. Of course after his bad luck with Simon and River he’s now terrified of them. He also picks some fights with Mal. But Zos always the one that’ll bite back. But he particularly doesn’t get along with Wash that well. “What d’ya all order a dead guy for?”
Master of flight and dinosaur play we introduce Wash: also known as “the wind:” watch how he sores. He would be considered the funny one. He’s great company and jokes to light the moods of the crew. And yes, he gets along quite well with Kaylee. But they are just friends. He is like a puppy. He will all ways be loyal to his master. In this case his mistress. After all he and Zoë are the only married couple on the ship. Of course like a puppy he sometimes gets into trouble. Only he instead of chewing on things his jokes get a little out of hand. But it’s all on the good side. “You want a slinky dress? I can buy you a slinky dress. Captain, can I have money for a slinky dress?”
Zoë was a fighter for the Browncoats. As well as their captain Malcolm Reynolds, or Mal, or Captain. Back then Zoë hardly showed any emotion. Not even a smile. But who would when you’re forced to fight for your freedom but end up just watching your comrades die? That’s all in the past now. Only it does come back every now and then. It usually only brings sadness though. Now Zoë is chop full of emotions. I’d say she’s overflowing in them. Like her husband she too is like a puppy. Loyal to all; she will make sure nobody is ever left behind. Unlike her husband Wash, her humor is there but still a little shaky. “Sir, I think you have a problem with your brain being missing.”
Mal is the most oddest, courageous, and respectful captain that you could ever have. Taking odd jobs as well as reckless endangerment he manages to get by. Now if only he could be up to date on fixing the ship and paying his crew. But having food and firearms is a must out in the black space. No matter what he all ways manages to keep the crew in good condition. Sure he has some harsh discipline like locking somebody in the launch bay when they’re exiting the orbit of a planet, but it’s all for the best. As he speaks with Simon you will be enlightened on his behavior. You’ll find that he’s just trying to live with what he’s got left, which is his crew, his life, and his ship.
Mal: “We’re still flying.”
Simon: “That’s not much.”
Mal: “It’s enough.”
