I've been either writing and/or painting and drawing for as long as I can remember, but sometimes other more boring stuff has taken over and now I don't intend that to happen again. I don't know what my style is - I just write what I feel strongly about but I probably haven't worked on things long enough (up till now). I've always loved fairy tales, myths and legends, old English folk ballads, William Blake, Samuel Palmer and all things dark and mysterious. But I don't write like that. And I don't like modern swords and scorcery stuff. I live on the edge of Dartmoor ('Hound of the Baskervilles' country) with my 3 children, so there is lots of inspiration around us. I also feel very strongly about the things that are happening in the world at the moment, and that is reflected in what I write. I'm not even going to attempt to write a hannahesque list of music and bands that I like, but it is anything and everything from 60's spy jazz, Bollywood film music, Shoenburg, Lizitsky, 30's French chantoozes, Kurt Weill, punk, cab calloway, Perez Prado etc etc. Films: Pandora's Box, Dr Caligari, L'Atalante, Ghost World, Donnie Darko.
