CONDUCT DISORDER

Ink spilled upon an empty sheet
runs and spills out beyond the edges.
The beauty of a rose like a fickle heart
laid flat upon a plain casts no shadows,
its petals shrivel and die
crumbled dust for potpourri.
Yet even this fragrance will eventually
Disappear, but the ink shall still be upon sheet.
Its imagery and beauty imprinted upon the soul
With broad strokes of brush the ink is laid
Painting words of love, sadness, hope, desire
Each stroke of pen each word or phrase a
A blurry vision into the poet’s heart
The ink is the poet left bare before the world
