shouldhave on August 30, 2005No Problem! No apology necessary. Maybe I should take edpeterson's advice, and open my mind a bit. You are right about pointing out the Black guy in a crowd of whites, the same would be if there was a white guy in a crowd of blacks, even more so. LOL No really, I got carried away over nothing. I see that these forums are no joy ride. I have read lots of threads and you guys and girls (men and women) don't know the meaning of playing fair. It seems that sarcasm is a handy tool. I've got thick skin, and a tool belt that has fixed lots of things. I just had to learn the rules. Now that I know, I think I'll give it a go. The forums I left were not this exciting, to say the least.

Mephitic ID Synergy on August 30, 2005Erm. That was a bit of irony, my friend. I would never call a black person a negro, a colored person, an african american, black, or any of these things if I can help it. I just call them by their names for the most part. Of course it would just be silly if there were one black guy in a crowd of white guys and I wanted to point out something he was doing to a friend, if I were to say "Look at that... um... you see the guy... he's... in the middle..." In that case the most distinctive and easily recognizable feature of the fellow would be his skin color, so I'd say "Check out the black guy. He's totally scratching his nuts." It would be racist not to say it. Get it?
So I was trying to point out how ignorant what he said by restating it in a more obvious way. That's how I like to do things. I'm sorry if I offended you. I really am. I understand that what may be a casual joke for me is just another in a long line of affirmations from society that you're a second class citizen. So, sorry.
