I'm a writer, among other things. I haven't been writing much lately--I think I've been in chrysalis mode, or maybe germinating. Someone asked me, years ago, how I could call myself a writer if I wasn't writing?
...So here I am. I do more short fiction than poetry, but poetry was how I started, and poetry is where I return tme and again, when I lose my "writer" legs.
I love Alexie, Young Bear, Goldbarth, Borges, the Gothic Romantics, even Dickinson, although that has become a cliche in itself.
I know my way is not the only way to write a poem... A Prof once told me that poetry was like taking a photograph with words. I know that poetry can be music, too. I also know that some use poetry as a weapon--esoteric becomes an elitist tower.
