A Humble Poet

 

Some call me a poet and some call me their friend
Both are cherished titles I will treasure ‘til my end
My paper is my canvas and my paintbrush is my pen
The poems that I humbly paint come from deep within
   
I try to create beauty with the wording of my art
With hope that in some minor way that it will touch a heart
My poems may tell a story that rhyme a verse or two
Some of them are fiction while others very true

So if you care to take a look you’re always welcome here
Hopefully you’ll read a work that you find very dear
And if by chance a piece of it should bring a little smile
Then the efforts of this humble poet all have been worthwhile

 

 

 

 

Poetic Song

When stirrings of my soul begin
 To urge the hand to move the pen
I’ll put in print a dreamer’s word
A simple song my heart has heard

 

A favored thought from long ago

May be the cause for ink to flow

Or beauty found on nature’s stage

Can put the words upon the page

 

A bit of humor that I’ve found

Across the paper dance around

With hope perhaps they will beguile

And bring about a happy smile

 

Or thoughts to entertain a child

At times across the page run wild

A journey to an unknown world

Come forth as pages are unfurled

 

But every piece of work I write

With meter loose or meter tight

Of verses short or verses long

Are part of my poetic song

S ubdued in his rhymes
              E asily each word comes to him
      W inner of a billion trophies
   A spiring to write like him
             S tudy every word he fashions
                H ilarious poems of such objects
            A rubber ducky some popcorn
               M aking my beloved belly laughs
