Okay, before my numerous quotes [I'm big dork so sue me ] I would just like to say first thank you for
checking out my page and viewing my work. Almost everything on here is a couple years old but I'm in the process of putting some new stuff up. Most people won't get my style but that's just what it is my style, I wrote how I feel and how I like my poetry to flow and it definitively doesn't follow any traditional poetry standards but I like that. So I'm not saying all this to sound like I have my head up my ass or anything just that I've heard it all before but I do welcome any and all comments. And if you comment me I'll try and comment you back on some of your work if I can.
Anyway thanx for reading all that insanity and thanks again for checking out my work.

My second favorite poem ever
Sonnet 17 - by Pablo Neruda
it will always make me think of you Tori

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms,
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

~ QUOTAGE~

"Liar! Liar, Liar, Liar! You've all got your heads up your assholes because love is. It just is and nothing you can say can make it go away because it is the point of why we are here, it is the highest point and once you are up there, looking down on everyone else, you're there forever. Because if you move, right, you fall. You fall."

paulie talking about love in class
["lost and delirious" - movie]

"Life and death, energy and peace. If I stop today it was still worth it. Even the terrible mistakes that I made and would have unmade if I could. The pains that have burned me and scarred my soul, it was worth it, for having been allowed to walk where I've walked, which was to hell on earth, heaven on earth, back again, into, under, far in between, through it, and above."

from the journal of the late gia maria carangi
[also heard in the autobiographical movie "gia"]

"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, "O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless... of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?" Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play *goes on* and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?"

John Keating - "Dead Poets Society"

"They're not that different from you, are they? Same haircuts. Full of hormones, just like you. Invincible, just like you feel. The world is their oyster. They believe they're destined for great things, just like many of you, their eyes are full of hope, just like you. Did they wait until it was too late to make from their lives even one iota of what they were capable? Because, you see gentlemen, these boys are now fertilizing daffodils. But if you listen real close, you can hear them whisper their legacy to you. Go on, lean in. Listen, you hear it? - - Carpe - - hear it? - - Carpe, carpe diem, seize the day boys, make your lives extraordinary"

John Keating - "Dead Poets Society"

"I sound my barbaric yawp over the rooftops of the world!"

[Walt Whitman]
John Keating - "Dead Poets Society"

"We say that the hour of death cannot be forecast, but when we say this we imagine that hour as placed in an obscure and distant future. It never occurs to us that it has any connection with the day already begun or that death could arrive this same afternoon, this afternoon which is so certain and which has every hour filled in advance."

[Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart]
Tod Waggner - "final destination"

To be, or not to be--that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
And by opposing end them. To die, to sleep--
No more--and by a sleep to say we end
The heartache, and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to. 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To die, to sleep--
To sleep--perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub,
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come

hamlet
["hamlet" - William Shakespeare]

I am a Jew. Hath not a Jew eyes?
Hath not a Jew hands, organs, dimensions, senses, affections,
passions, fed with the same food, hurt with the same weapons,
subject to the same diseases, healed by the same means, warmed
and cooled by the same winter and summer, as a Christian is?
If you prick us, do we not bleed?
If you tickle us, do we not laugh?
If you poison us, do we not die?
And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?
If we are like you in the rest, we will resemble you in that.

shylock
["the merchant of venice" - William Shakespeare]

She walks in Beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:

Pretty things, so what if I like pretty things
Pretty lies, so what if I like pretty lies
From where you are, to where I am now
I need these pretty things,
around the planets of our phase
Everything's a sign of my astrology
From where you are, to where I am now
Is its own galaxy
Be a star and fall down somewhere next to me
And make it past your color TV
This time will pass and with it will me
And all these pretty things
Don't say you don't notice them

"pretty things" - rufus wainwright

Slow down you crazy child
You're so ambitious for a juvenile
But then if you're so smart tell me why
You are still so afraid?

Where's the fire, what's the hurry about?
You better cool it off before you burn it out
You got so much to do and only
so many hours in a day

But you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want
Or you an just get old
You're gonna kick off before you even get halfway through
When will you realize...Vienna waits for you

Slow down you're doing fine
You can't be everything you want to be
Before your time
Although it's so romantic on the borderline tonight
Too bad but it's the life you lead
You're so ahead of yourself
That you forfeit what you need
Though you can see when you're wrong

But you know you can't always see when you're right
You got your passion you got your pride
BUt don't you know only fools are satisfied?
Dream on but don't imagine they'll al come true
When will you realize
Vienna waits for you

Slow down you crazy child
Take the phone off the hook
And disappeaar for a while
It's alright you can afford to lose a day or two
When will you realize...
Vienna waits for you

"Vienna" - Billy Joel

Wrapped in lust and lunacy"

"Nobody said it was easy
Oh its such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said that it would be this hard
Oh take me back to the start

I was just guessing at numbers and figures
Pulling your puzzles apart
Questions of science, science and progress
Do not speak as loud as my heart
Tell me you love me, come back and haunt me
Oh and I rush to the start
Running in circles, chasing our tails
Coming back as we are"

"the scientist" - coldplay

Stones taught me to fly
Love taught me to lie
Life taught me to die
So it's not hard to fall
When you float like a cannonball

"cannonball" - damien rice

"So why do you fill my sorrow
With the words you've borrowed
From the only place you've known
And why do you sing Hallelujah
If it means nothing to you
Why do you sing with me at all?"

"Read me the letter, baby
Do not leave out the words
Stories and cigarettes
ruined lives of lesser girls
and I wanna know
Cause I want you to know

And it's a strange condition
A day in prison
It's got me out of my head
and I don't know what I came for"

"strange condition" - pete yorn

---
I could let you slip away
just wait for rainy days
find the perfect coffee house
and stay for hours
But wouldn't that be failing us
letting go too soon
when everything I am still holds on to you

and these souvenirs
they keep me here
You're really somewhere
down the road
I know
But I'm still stranded here
holding all these souvenirs

I could hide all somewhere
pretend I didn't care
Fill my time with daily things
until I'm numb
But isn't all this feeling why we reach for love at all
Isn't it the reason that we hear the call

for more than all these souvenirs
they keep me here
You're really somewhere down the road
I know
But I'm still stranded here
holding all these souvenirs

these souvenirs
they keep me here
you're really somewhere
down the road

i know

cause i'm still stranded here
holding all these souviners

yeah i'm still stranded here
holding onto all these souviners

"these souvenirs" - mary beth maziarz
[frequently heard on dawson's creek]
----

Would you like the chance to shatter heaven?
Would you like to be the one who pulls the sky down just for me?
Round and round and round we run, and pretend the sun is all you need

I've never known a moment to be frozen
You're making deals with minutes that will slip away, just slip away
So starve the garden stop the rain-
Winter settles on my petals anyways, anyways

Is your armor thin again
Do I want to wear it down?
Am I worthy to come in?
Do you want to be found?

Nothing into something into nothing
Every rule you break means there?s no turning back, no looking back.
The words that I could never say -
The clutter that is in your way is nothing new..nothing new

Is your armor thin again?
Do I want to wear it down?
Am I worthy to come in?
Do you want to be found?
Is your armor thin again?
Do I want to wear it down?
Am I worthy to come in?
Do you want to be found?

Wandering between the girl you search for and the one you leave
And I cannot wait..
Chasing you around the room is tempting
So near and far away from meaning anything to you-
But just remember if you're jumping, I would start my jump off
Running after you..

Is your armor thin again?
Do I want to wear it down?
Am I worthy to come in?
Do you want to be found?
Is your armor thin again?
Do I want to wear it down?
Am I worthy to come in?
Am I worthy to come in?
Am I worthy to come in?
Do you want to be found?
Do you want to be found?

"your armor" - charlotte martin

Bittersweet seasons.
Mistake a warm winter for spring.
Seems like I’m best at leaving
when leaving is not the best thing.

You couldn’t help it
if you needed more than I could give
That’s just the way it goes.

I call you misplaced but never a waste of my time
Everybody’s gonna make mistakes
But you’ll never be one of mine

You couldn’t help it
if you needed more than I could give
That’s just the way it goes.
I knew you felt me leaving long before I ever did
That’s just the way it goes now.
Loved me fearless when you needed to
You would not rest till you came through
So God bless and thank you.

There is no anger
its just you and I and the truth
You can try to make her
but love will not be forced to bloom

You couldn’t help it
if you needed more than I could give
That’s just the way it goes.
The only love worth fighting for
is one that you can win and
That’s just the way it goes now.
You would not break but you could bend
And for love’s sake you let love end
But I still swear that you were God sent

And you stood before me knowing
that the wings i have you gave
And that’s just the way it goes
And I barely have the breath to breathe
much less to fly
And a silence entered the room for a one last
I’m gonna love you.
So God bless and thank you.

"bittersweet" - Sara Bareilles

Something always brings me back to you.
It never takes too long.
No matter what I say or do
I'll still feel you here 'til the moment I'm gone.

You hold me without touch.
You keep me without chains.
I never wanted anything so much
than to drown in your love and not feel your rain.

Set me free, leave me be.
I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall,
just the way I'm supposed to be.
But you're on to me and all over me.

You love me cause I'm fragile.
When I thought that I was strong.
But you touch me for a little while
and all my fragile strength is gone.

Set me free, leave me be.
I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall,
just the way I'm supposed to be.
But you're on to me and all over me.

wow, thankyou for all your comments. It makes me feel great that your favorite lines are the ones that mean the most to me as well. the last one I wrote about the guy was awful I'll admit and I wasn't writing in true poetic form but sometimes I just have to get things out of my system.
  • rainbowbunniie on June 18, 2006
thank you very much ^___^ i thought that too when i read some of yours. and yeah i tend to write the best and the most at times when i am feeling the most. as much as i love poetry i find that sometimes i can be a lil particular about what poems i like, just because i want to read something different and something that will grab my attention and make me want to not just read through it but want to stop and re-read it. and i deffinitly think your poems do that.
  • Rainbow Eater on June 17, 2006
you seem to write the same way I do, where every word comes from a deep strong feeling and the rythm of your poem relates directly to your current emotion. or not, that's just how your poems feel to me.
  • EmotionallyBeaten on June 7, 2006
Thanx, first I tell you that your poem makes mine look like crap, then you tell me that you thought it wasn't even good thanx!!!!lol j/p
