A milestone year for me...2008, ain't it great?

I remain a certain age - seven times ten and then the rest. That is supposed to make me wise. Fat chance! I look out on a world that has lost its innocence if it ever had it - naivety I think is a better word. But it is changed and changing.

Favourite poet: William Makepeace Thackeray

As my fingers mistype on a keyboard this means that I have no chance on a mobile phone! As has probably been said elsewhere, if we keep tapping away on phone keys we will all end up with little pointed fingers.
I try not to be too serious in my writings but I often fall into the trap and have a bit of a moan (grumpy old man). I write in rhyme and rhythm as well as freeverse. I can write formal/formulaic poetry but find it a touch restrictive and prefer freewheeling, playing with words and shapes - sometimes it works!

Sadly I have been unpublished these thirty years or more but it doesn't stop me from writing. I am still trying to acquire some skill at writing poetry which I have only been working at for a very few years.

Resident in England all my life I managed (with a little help from my wife) to produce five children all now flown the nest except for Sunday lunch and like that.
Disabled, I try not to take this out on my wife and, happily, she continues to be good to me.

To all those writers out there - especially the younger ones - don't stop doing it!

You're not published? You should be. If you're not published, then I have no chance of being published myself.

I worked as a clerk for a judge in my early 20's and he had that same saying on the wall in chambers."Per Ardua ad Astra, Carborundum" Don't let the bastards grind you down! . As I recall, that's the first time I saw it. He was called out of retirement to judge our overflow of cases. His wife was confined and every day, he would take her roses. Sometimes he came across as grumpy but mostly he was just weighed down with the cares of life...

I know you don't like me, but we have a decent group "The Library" and you might like it. All we ask is that people participate. There are many there other than myself.

Hope all is well and I enjoyed visiting your page and reading your poetry. You always bring a smile to my face that feels rather "stoney" these days!
