Pyewacket - also spelled pyewackett, simply defined as a witch's familiar. During the reign of the church of England, when all that was not catholic was evil, any animal thought to be working the magic of the devil was called a pyewacket. As the Salem witch trials became popular, so to speak, the animal most often portrayed as evil was the cat, and women who owned cats were looked at more suspiciously as witches. From there the term pyewacket became most associated with cats.
In 1958 the movie "Bell, Book, and Candle" came out with Kim Novak and Jimmy Stewart. In the movie Kim Novak's character is a witch in a long line of witches who uses her magic to attract Jimmy Stewart....long story short she falls in love, a classic romantic comedy. Anyway, in the movie the pet cat of Kim Novak's character is named Pyewacket.
I am a pagan, and a cat lover, and have always enjoyed the history of witchcraft, in all of it's forms. Therefore, pyewacket has long been a favorite term of mine.
I live an interesting life, I like to think. With deep friends and good family and lots of pets. I have thirteen cats, three snakes, and a couple of peacocks right now, I had several more pets, but they have moved on to better places. I enjoy life and believe in living it to the fullest extent possible. I welcome all comments and critiques, even if I don't agree with them.
I also tend to be sarcastic at times, so everything I post is reader beware!!
Razors pain you;
Rivers are damp;
Acids stain you;
And drugs cause cramp.
Guns aren't lawful;
Nooses give;
Gas smells awful;
You might as well live.
~Dorothy Parker

Mother Earth will swallow you,
lay your body down.

Being a government assassin really has nothing to do with violence. In fact, it would be a pacifist’s job, a job that allows an end to wars. Yes occassionally it

Terrible times. Any true apologist will tell you that the devil does his finest work in the church.
Enjoyed that tid-bit about yourself! Cat people are much more exciting than dog people
. But don't tell them I've told you...
Thank you for your kind words and continue living life to its fullest.
