How long are we going to tiptoe around each other?
We're afraid to speak our minds, afraid to look at one another.
-
We raised the sun again.
But it was flat, cold, harsh light
-
I remember sitting in the passenger seat of a Dodge outside my high school waiting for the first bell to ring Listening to the radio, watching my first love while he was napping
-
I'm deconstructing myself in a parking lot again. There no place like the same old place to cause the same old pain.
-
I wasn't supposed to end up back here
Where waking up takes too much effort.
-
I'm waiting for the sun to come up
I can't stand this bleak, pre-dawn gray
-
Like no one's ever seen a girl
Sitting on the sidewalk
-
The sky lights up and
The buildings shake.
-
tonight i can't see straight.
i remember stagnant moonlit waters and poison ivy.
-
i am not the kind of girl that has songs written about her.
half-meant poems don't count.
-
this lump in my throat is you.
i want you
-
it's pulling me down deeper
-
The April rain chills me more
than it should. The heart is
-
I wasn't supposed to miss you
When you were only ten minutes away.
-
It is another good time for attempting poetry,
When I'm suffocated by your hair
-
Hey kid
You can look and you can touch
-
God I hate these mountains,
Unless I'm driving over them.
-
You left them all years ago
-
I wouldn't give a penny for this life
The sun has left me cold again
-
I didn't come back just to destruct
The only part of me I had left,
-
Society is dead, sorority is born
In a co-ed fashion, with a
-
I live in a calcified memory.
I swim alone.
-
I don't feel sick right now,
So maybe for once I can feel something else.
-
My window wasn't calling me today.
This will be the first time.
-
The second window from the right
Is where I always stood
-
Wrist bruises remind me of being here
Being in this brick room
-
I can't see the mountaintops
Today I can't see anything but you,
-
Life pulls you back into focus,
Remember that you are still right here.
-
Speak like I'm dying.
Have you noticed my lackluster smile?
-
I spent the summer in a town where big was average,
And the only ones who were skinny were seen on streetcorners after dark.
-
Painful white light threw funny shadows on my face.
Two towns away you sat uncontented, unintentionally growing old.
-
Everything I love is worthless and overplayed.
Even this.
-
The train whistle tells me it's going home,
But all that's home is the face
-
I'm running over statistics that never change.
I am alone and in costume for a world in pain.
