My dreams are made of ribbons and they ripple prettily, But they are just as easy as my fragile skin to tear,
-
So they’ll shove their stupid happy faces right up against yours,
And let you know that it’s your fault that you can’t raise a smile
-
It’s cut and dry. Blood is like glue
That flows in clots beneath our skin,
-
All the things I cover, that I smother with a blanket,
For fear they will rise up and wound my wilting pride,
-
The images surround me. Like Greek statues, they are perfect,
And they make me seem a shadow, barely human, and I expect
-
The wind leafs through the papers as they scuttle through the drains,
I am walking, scarcely seeing, as my shadows skip behind,
-
It’s too hard to look at. I take it out and put it straight back in,
A display of affection as blatant as a stiff, smooth mannequin,
-
-
I am every whorl in planks of wood,
The imperfect blotches on smooth skin,
-
Every word swelled towards the cross that meant a kiss.
-
I simply left myself to wilt: a self-destructive flower.
-
Allow me to witness my own drawn-out demise
-
My head hits the desk as I realise the truth:
That dependence is the whole point of youth,
-
Hearts are like pets we play with for a while,
Then neglect comes to replace joyous smiles,
-
With feet worn down by splinters, you’ll walk a mile in my shoes,
Stiff as a chess-figure, and wherever you move you’ll lose,
-
I exist on the edge of stains / Where colour fades to paper’s tones, / Where suffering, bliss, aches and pains / Are bleached to look like naked bones. / I can’t recall the journey that led me to this place, /
-
The worst of ends sprung from the best beginning, / And I’m faced with a decision that I don’t want to make, / The race against time is not one I’m winning, / Even now I shy away from the path you choose to take.
-
You asked me how I felt. I lied.
-
It’s unfair to expect one rolling dice To bring us what we want. We roll it twice.
-
She looks up with the light missing from her pale blue eye, The fire blazing around her could be a sunset sky,
-
I hate you and your precious smile
-
I'll leave you to your long travels and you'll leave me behind.
-
“The one you want is never home.”
-
Not every silence signifies something left unsaid, Why must you assume that secrets nestle in my head?
-
Your spirit is sliding down a slope that gets longer With each passing second. This feeling gets stronger

You can’t deny the beauty of an eye: The glow that lies within, but light can die,
-
Douse the lights, these fires are pointless: A tribute to futility, anguish and distress,

She tiptoed down the fine and brittle line Between Ophelia and Clementine,

The picture-perfect couple poses yet again

You were always so far… I sighed, you swung from stars
-
Eye to the rim so it presses the skin And I can’t recall how I came to be pinned,
-
And so this is a barrier you've put up against me, Reminds me through emphasis of my inadequacy
-
How can I not love you? There’s no other choice When you’ve hypnotised me with your eyes and voice,

Little guttural deaths, deep in my throat, Each breath is pain in this sad, tortured state,
