Oh little girl with eyes so bright,
Who's wide awake in the dead of night. -
The lights glare for miles in front of my eyes,
The beach flows out against the midnight skies. -
You smooth your shirt and brush away the tears,
Check your smile in the mirror and push aside all your fears. -
On a cold, dark, and dreary night,
There was a heart once full of light. -
Your smile lifts me to heights unknown,
Let me kiss away your tears. -
I sit here remembering the past,
Thinking back to a time when friends kept their word. -
The eyes of others always looking down,
Making me feel as though I'll never be enough. -
One day I say upon a bench,
inside a park where children play. -
