Our gift from above

My belly is round,
my ankles are swollen.
My due date has passed,
Our baby is rollin.

Ripples across my tummy,
a foot or a hand.
Our baby's birth pending,
the wait we can't stand.

Suddenly it's our moment,
Our baby is near.
Emotions so intense,
I cry a little tear.

But, before long,
our gift from above.
A gorgeous baby girl,
Forever ours to love.

As she lay in my arms,
so precious and sweet,
we knew right away
that our lives were complete.

Author notes

Awwww... this reminds me of the joy my very own son experienced almost four months ago. He and his wife gave us our first granddaughter after three grandsons. She was christened yesterday. She is a living doll. I know the joy you feel. I felt it with each of our children (we have four), and with each of our grandchildren (we now have four). Our children are gifts from above. Your poem made me smile. I wish you well with your family and in this challenge.

Much Love & Many Blessings ♥

This is so sweet, and really brings a smile to my face. I feel blessed that I have memories of my pregnancy even if the ending wasn't what I would have wished. I've always felt bad for women who've never had the experience, as it truly is a wonderful feeling...gas and all.

A beauty of a poem, and I'd bet your daughter is just as lovely. Good luck in the contest!

    Best wishes,
    ~J.

Two days ago I mentioned to someone that I'd like to have that feeling of being pregnant again, just the feeling, not the whole thing though lol
I believe is the most wonderful feeling, and no matter how much we long for the birth, we always miss the whole 9 months. Lovely poem Til, I immensely enjoyed it

i've had 4 babies now. (NO MORE!) but the last 3 pregnancies were quite rough on me. i was glad for it to end but, the first time was smooth and it was a lovely experience. it is soooo sad when they grow up. my eldest is turning 10 this year!

    Dear Til,

And how could anyone NOT love such an adorable baby?
Especially such an adorable mother. It's no wonder you were inspired to write this poem which was actually written on MY birthday in 2005 just before you and I met and I became your grampa. You joined AP in January 2005 and it didn't take me long to spot you in the course of my boobology research coz I remember you were pretty awe-inspiring in that department at the time!! LOL.
Of course, being my number ONE grandawt, it's your poetry and wit that inspires me nowadays and I think this charming poem about my lil' gr-grandawt Hannah is a splendid choice for this contest.
Best of luck in the voting and big claps from the Throne.
Luvs ya in big steaming lumps, hugs and XXXX's, Gampa (Hugh R.)

'This is cute, and so touching. How old is your baby now? My little Gracie is nine months old. I still can't believe I pushed her out, and that she belongs to. I can't imagine my life without her! This was a very sweet poem. And thank you for commenting on my poem, it's good knowing that someone understands. My husband and have been together three years, I'm just a work in progress.
