Ice Shards

Black shadows are all that remain
Of fractured ice and decimated promises
If living was the hardest part
Then I’m dying to be your ghost
Floating through your nevermore
I lost my fear of falling
When you pushed me into an oblivion of frozen glass
You stepped on my heart
And you broke it
Splintering it into a thousand brittle pieces
Who’ll clean this mess of me up?
Who will sweep it under the carpet?
You of course
And there those shards will remain
Frozen in darkness, like my tears
– Which still refuse to fall –
Would you have come back
If the glass wasn’t so destroyed?
Would you have made everything ‘alright?’
No…
I could say ‘fuck you, I’ll fix myself’
But I can’t
Glass cannot repair itself
So I’ll lie here ruined, until someone else saves me
But these jagged shards just can’t be fixed
‘Broken glass,’ they say
‘Is like a sin waiting to be taken
Don’t pick up the shards
They’re dangerous
They’ll cut you
And make you bleed’
Damn straight I’ll make you bleed
But perhaps another day…
The demons – or are they angels? – keep telling me
Telling me that I’ll find my black salvation
The kind of salvation that burns
Like the shattered edge
Of broken glass

The beginning was very impressive. I loved the imageries you draw and I thought it would be that way the rest of the poem, but somehow in the middle you sort of changed the style and and a couple of lines just didn't fit especially that it ended as it started.
I guess that interruption was due to the strength of your emotions, so I can't hold that against you.
    Good luck in teh contest.
