Pretend

You ask  me why I did it,
You ask me why I lied,
I told you that I didn't,
You mean more to me then life.

You said,
"Take me today,
For today is all we have,
We don't love each other enough
To make this love last"

I begged for you to try again
I begged for you to hold on
I didn't want this to end, but..
When tomorrow came, you were gone

Now I cry alone in bed
Thinking why you'd want to hurt me
Now I wish I was dead
'Cause all I wanted was for us to be

Author notes

"For you and me, today is all we have; tomorrow is a mirage that may never become a reality."

This is deffinately one of my favorite poems that i've read in a while. I can completely relate to it in every aspect. We always take for granted what we have in our life at this exact moment. Excellent job! Thank you for entering my contest and good luck
