curiosity

curiosity
fluttering white wings
against plum chapped lips
a thin aftertaste
a losing bright flash

she looks at the dried flower and rolls her eyes slightly
thinking about
   misplaced memories and days where
laying in the browning grass, moss dampening our pants,
was an adventure during the night time
just as the night stars flicker
like a candle when lovers pass by
not bothering this time with a goodbye kiss
sweaters are tighter this year, the wool itching at silk skin
covering our sins, making the pain forgotten
coffee is sipped with a finger drifting towards the sky
pastel recycled cups become her accessories
a tea bag tag sometimes adorning the outside of a
   handmade cup
sometimes stuffed with poetry needing to be saved
   scrawled on orange paper
   waiting to be discovered
she looks down at the bright flashlight
longs for adventure
and gets lost in the moonlight
hidden behind her glasses.
