If Only They Could See

In a society obsessed with fame.
If only they could see,
That deep within, we’re all the same…
Star struck kids line the streets,
Trying to catch a glimpse of their favorite star,
Never realizing that Hollywood is paved with the
Broken dreams of those who never made it as far,
Gallantly parading your fictitious image…
As they scream out your name,
Tell me, do you feel a sense of shame?
What lengths they will have gone
To become the toast of your society,
Throwing away all remnants of reality
Living in a world that denies them nothing,
Years spent building a reputation,
Shaking hands, sharing all of your secrets, endless celebration.
Unaware that their cohorts are out to destroy them,
They want nothing more than to see you fall.
And will stand beside you while you lose it all.

    Excellent!

This write is great, it reminds me of a celebrity party where there are lights, music, laughter, good food and wine, people all seemingly enjoying themselves... yet, as soon as the party is over, the lights go up and reality hits full square! no more pretty colourful lights but a glaring white light, the banquet table that was so inviting now strewn with left-overs and streamers, wine glasses half filled or empty, the dance floor littered with waste etc..people who had a few hours ago been joking and having fun with each other seemingly so very interested in how we are doing and what is happening in our life, now walk past each other as if they didnt exist.
Those who are determined to win at all cost will often miss out on genuine friendships, if we are always true to ourselves, then we will always be able to look the world in the eye and smile!
This is a great write, well done
    ~Katie~

im suprised this hasnt been commented on yet but i am proud to be the first!!! your poetry amazes me~ i definatly feel this way...celeberties are nice~ famouse, but when do they have secrets ever truthfull and when do we finally understand just because the world is seeing you on tv doesnt make any of us diffrent but i really truly am just another citizan that would love to shake the hand of brad pitt, or ashley simpson or my fav. chad micheal murry...but just because i do like the hot or tv stars doesnt make me any less understand! i truthfully do understand your point all of us should be famouse in our own way and i do believe we all are...ur poetry amazes me, you write about the real things in life, even tho im only 15 i understand.
thank you so much for reading my poetry!!!! and commenting!
