Open My Fragile Heart

Overlapping seas of love consume my heart
Piercing my soul with such light
Even though I have been scarred so many times
Never to think I could ever love again

More than anything, I want to be loved by
You and only you, forever

For longing has entered my soul and
Raptures me everytime I lay eyes on you
As you walk by, never giving me a second glance
Give me a chance to prove I can be worthy of you
I need you close to me in every way, though I am afraid
Love me and show me that this feeling can be kind
Even though I've been hurt and abused so many times

Hush my fearful cries at night
Every time my nightmares haunt me
All I need is your loving arms around me
Reaching towards the stars, I am to you
Though I don't know if you'll ever see me or reach back...

Author notes

I've stated what this form is in the bio. If you don't know what an acrostic is, look at the bolded letters. It's pretty simple.

This poem was very well written, certainly in a different form from every other poem I've read. I'm familiar with it but haven't seen it since I was in elementary. This poem didn't even need to rhyme to be great, so I thought that was a nice touch. Overall, I could paint a picture in my mind while reading this. Great write! I'll check out another one of your poems later this week for sure. Thanks for your review for Red December.
