Yes, Gen, this truly is complementary with my "Sea Symphony" and your coupling it with the audio has the same effect as my pairing my piece with the contest image I for which I wrote that etheree. The sea is truly inspirational and I'll be getting to visit it in a week for the first time in many years.

    Be ever bright,

    Rod

    Gorgeous

You've done such a fantastic job, as the others have said, of painting the picture verbally. The sound accompanying it was great. Keep up the beautiful work, MaatKara!

    yes, a nice simple picture...
a good duality in movement - the gull and the sea;...

    Very nice!

Aha! Wow...nice scene here, Gennelle! I love the image presented through this haiku and the picture is just awesome! This 'ku combines the rainbow which is up above and the ocean which is below. I love sea gulls, rainbows and the oceans - you got all my favourite things in this 'ku! I feel like soaring too now! Very nice work!

    turbulently peaceful

I am fond of the haiku style, and I really like this haiku since it reminds me of home. I spent many long hours at The Lake, watching gulls and the water...well, off to read another one of your wonderful poems

    Great imagery

There is such a tension between the gull soaring on the rainbow, and the violence of the waves below; but I think that the peace is not disturbed, the waves are doing what they ought. This is a scene which may be seen almost any time, and it only takes this attention to make it beautiful.
I should know better than to comment before coffee!
    Glad to be back!

Aha! Thank you Terry! That was the double meaning of 'solo on seaspray rainbow' I intended. I'm glad the imagery helped conjure those seaside memories, mine too.

I love Mendelssohn, by the way, especially his violin concertos.

Why did I hear it as music, orchestral music, as I read?
Mendelssohn never wrote anything with such atmosphere, and he is master of the genre. Perhaps, because I have sat by the sea, and in peace overriding the sound of surf, watched many gulls. Altogether a beautiful experience of a poem! From the land of snowdrifts partway up my windows, simply lovely.
    Thank you!
    Terry

Thank you! Ha, I hadn't consciously intended that, but it's true too...reader participation really is integral to haiku!

Thank you, Steve! Your perception was just what I hoped to suggest. Nature's symphonies are something to behold, aren't they?

great verse and i know it was no accident that you found the perefct border too ... i could not help wonder while reading ... is the gull totally unaware of all the beauty below or is it simply looking for it's next meal.
