The ways of the Muse

A cuckoo rejoicing in the spring
delights the world when it sings
The nightingale not to be left behind
with resonant notes regales our minds.
The chirping sparrow on the windowsill
Long, boring days with pleasure he fills.
The robin as well sings like a dream
Sending forth a harmonious stream.

Each bird is, I deem, in its own right
A maestro on whose pinions light
Imagination of even the dullest child
sails forth on journeys, ingenious and wild.

Yet, wordsmiths of rare repute and wit
Eulogized the skylark as an ethereal spirit
Its music thrilled their rapt hearts
Like ambrosia; like some divine art.
What uniqueness did their eyes see
in a song and presence so comely?
Their delectable thought and word
immortalized an ever so ordinary bird.

The Muse has her moods and ways
She celebrates the tiniest thing
If on a stone falls her ardent gaze,
from its surface a verse takes wing.

An inspiring poem on inspiration for poetry...okay that was a bit cheesey...anyways..this kinda reminded of a poem called 'the lawn' by Nissim Ezikiel...it's about of all things a lawn...well that is poetry...

    excellent poetry

This is just excellent! You have beautiful imagery, very artfully described, and the flow/rhythm is flawless. Then you've shared an insight, something to make the reader think about. I call what you've expessed 'transcending' the subject, which differentiates the writer from the poet. Great job, Poet! Excellent! ~Weldon

Good lord, that is most excellent verse. The mention of the muse or the universal poem is excellent. Even a stone gets a mention in poetry, or a feeling, or an incidental person in her life. And if they do that as well you do using Nature, it always comes up beautiful.

too ture Krishna, a poet can write a poem of worth and beauty on anything I have read one even on a speck of dust. I love birds and enjoyed reading about them here very much. Made me think I have not yet written on the skylark, though the sparrows still fill me with delight
