The Dying Live Better

Missing image
Lizzie Grubman should die
Drowning in a Hampton's pool
Full of feces and Gold-cards
Paris Hilton should be blended
Into an industrial vat of toxic waste
To a simmering blob of hair care
Product, or spermicide.
My friend Jaren has AIDS
He shouldn't die, he should live
He cares about others.
He respects life and love,
And is a genuine person
Through and through, but
He'll die along with millions
Of children and innocent people
This year while these scoundrels
And shallow tyrants such as Bush
Cheney, and Ashley Simpson go
On sucking in lung full upon
Lung full of air they don't appreciate
Jared Leto and Colin Ferrel should rot
Instead of some beautifully tragic
case at the make a wish foundation
Joan Rivers and her daughter should
be flogged with unlubricated foot
Long black dildos, but the innocent,
The sick, the handicapped, they should
Be saved, helped, remembered
Instead of Janet Jackson's tit.
Merry Christmas stupid Americans
I hope you rich shallow fucks face
first it off a bridge into an icy-river.

It's a wonderful life.

I have to admit that I struggled with this one. Not that I don’t agree that the Hilton/Bush/Simpson/Cheney orgy of capitalist consumerism has too be stopped. But I tend, in a way, to feel sorry for them because they may never know a friend like your Jared – genuine and loving. And if they do, either their publicists or the media will rape and pillage that memory until it broken, beaten down and barely resembles the twisted remains of a once beautiful love.

I can see that you have a great deal of feelings for those who are helpless, or for those who are being 'run over' by society. Though, I must confess that I am surprised at the blanketed assult you placed on every possible known figure of any fame or note at all. Where most writters would single a specific person or grouping you took on everyone. This added a lot more power behind your statement. Well done, even though this is not my style of poem. Very moving. Good luck in the contest.

    Pretty good

I actually liked this. I find most of your writes crude, chauvinistic and incensative. I figure thats just who you are. This one has a good point and an appropriate message. It was well written and I find the overrepresentation of these celebrities in the lives of ignorant Americans a tragedy as well. There are more important things than what Jessica Simpson is going to do in the next thirty seconds. Nice job.

Shit if paris Hilton had AIDS.
    AIDS would become fashionable
you wouldn't be able to wear Prada
    without having AIDS. that's how
    fucking ridiculous our culture is.

I clicked because I recongnized your username and always thought you had great poetry-hey why arent you on my fav. list? anyway

eh..its kinda disgusting how our careless americans that drown themselves in beauty and expenses they won't even consider sharing seem to suck the life out of us who are struggling enough to be noticed and to LIVE. I am glad you didnt add P diddy in there..he seems to be a caring celebrity-from what I see that is. I do wish we could focus on the dying who are the ones who are actually LIVING. This is just great..I am more than glad to have read this..I thought this poem was actually thoughtful and had a very good point to it. TRUTH. THIS WAS EXCELLENT!

Wow, so true... many stars now-a-days (Including most musicians) take shit for granted... Its so terrible to see the way people are treated that are sick. They are cast out of society because the fact that they have something that can't be fixed with a drug or a pill. I bet you if these celebrities were to catch AIDs of HIV they would see life in a different light. Anyway, great write. May the truth be told!

it's funny how the celebrities always complain about how bad their fans are. if they didn't have fans, they wouldn't be famous. they don't appreciate what they got. good job on writing this!

    She's not a celeb, she's a high powered publicist.
She got off for running over all of those people outside
Of a nightclub a few years back, because no one was
Paying enough attention to her, She's a fucking vanarial
wart with a side of herpes, she should be decapitated
    with a soup spoon.

    Excellent!

LOL at Ed here above - that is my question too!! But then I am not American so maybe I have the right to be uninformed (is there such a word, lol?)! I so agree with you - where is our world going...???? You did an excellent job of painting the "other side of the sun" so well - brutally honest, sarcastic, sharp-witted - all the things that Sonia has pointed out! Congratulations on winning the gold trophy - it is well-deserved!! Merry Christmas from a "not rich non-American", but a happy South African!!

Yep. Love this , and share your opinions in relation to the likes of Paris Hilton etc who are afforded more space in the British press than children dying in places like darfur and al Fashir.

Sarcastic , ironic , cerebral , controversial , angry and brutally honest. Like your poetic voice Horus.

This is a verbal rampage - the alternative might be taking an ak47 to the waste of spacers you mention.

Good Luck and thanks for entering.

Well you are so very right. While the rich sit and complain about losing money in the market and the Martha Stewarts of the world go to a spa to serve their sentences ~ where do the sick and the handicap and the poor go for help? Very nicely stated.

Joan Rivers and her daughter should
    be flogged with unlubricated foot
    Long black dildos,

that killed me. I laughed so hard I think I had tears !!

I agree soo much, i am glad i read your poem, my grandmother recently did die of cancer and my little boy has AIDS i dont know how long he has left. You dont realize how much people take for grantid, untill you have seen those who have nothing, and take nothing for grantid. good job im going to read more of your work now.

This is a great piece, both humorous and meaningful with only one problem. Joan Rivers enjoys being flogged with footlong unlubricated dildos, and enjoys doing it every day.

that it is. meaning your last line. which you knew. it is a damn shame that people seem to care more about "celebrities" instead people that are right in their back garden. my best friend recently got luekemia and i was so shit scared that i was going to lose her. everything else just seemed so superficial compared to that. fortunately she has been given the all clear, doctors did their jobs. a strong and bitter poem about the truth of the world.
