Crockery courtship

A milk-jug loved a butter dish
Said he, "It is my earnest wish,
That you, my dearest if you may,
Should marry me without delay.

Shyly, the butter-dish replied,
"My love, it cannot be denied,
My passion, and the warmth I've felt,
Have made my inner butter melt."

So they agreed their troth to plight.
A sugar-bowl of sparkling white,
Conjoined in matrimonial bliss,
The milk-jug and his butt'ry Miss.

Her bridesmaid was a pepper-pot;
Best man? Senor Tabasco, hot,
When asked the registry to sign,
He scribbled out a fiery line.

Mock not the love of crockery,
Cruets have hearts, like you and me.
Butter and milk, pepper and salt,
May share a love without a fault.

You're right Silica, I let my anthropomorphism run away with me - bit like the dish with the spoon. Less of your sauce - this is a respectable verse. Old china indeed! That's auld cheeny (sic) around these parts. What you mean is a guid neebor. Best Wishes, my friend.

    Like Flanders and Swan!

Although they share a love of dairy their shape and making may well vary, and behind the imaginative diner, they real are… well just old china!

Love the rhyme… not quite so sure about the anthropomorphic romantic streak… I would have thought you would have to included cups and saucy in there though – lol.

LOL..oh my lord and lady that was soooo damn cute! The secret love lives of condiments and crockery! LOL Very charming and entertaining, this tickled my funny bone even as it made me sigh over the romances of inanimate objects, lol. Extraordinarily clever and just from head to toe, I give this two VERY buttery thumps up!
