Remembrance
Summer comes,
Spring a distant memory
floating listless in the ocean of Time’s black ink.
Four years: fish that steal the bait and leave the hook to shiver,
naked in the water.
The mind’s eye is stricken blind.
A feather was ripped from a raven’s wing;
crimson rain drips down.
Despite the pain, the bird flies on,
too strong to fall from the sky.
Lost in the labyrinth,
Recollection dies.
Slain in greed, the dragon lies
with smouldering breath.
The knights laugh cruelly as they steal the gold.
I cannot remember why the pain is there.
Despair is a storm that washes memories away…
