Holly on the bushes,
Ivy in the trees,
Presents in the window,
A chill on the breeze,
Bulging bags in the bedroom,
Sweets on the top shelf,
Hidden presents in the cuboard,
Put there by myself,
Sparkles in the window,
Trees all glowing bright,
Baubles on the branches,
Shine all through the night,
Little children nice and warm,
wrapped in blankets tight,
Waiting for the ringing,
that means Santa's on his way!
Joy in little faces,
On the twenty fifth,
Presents up and running,
Time for one last gift,
Turkey in the oven,
An alluring smell drifts out,
Pudding in the microwave,
OW - it's hot!
Tierd and happy,
They close their eyes,
Ready to play again,
Night-night children - sleep tight,
Darkness fills the stary night!

i´m glad i happened to peep into your page. although christmas is gone this poem brings all the good things in memory again. excellent and fluent job! -
Some sections seemed to drop the flow, and stanza 4 completely lost the rhyme scheme...But, I really liked the poem. The imagery, especially early on, brought the scenes to life before my eyes. With a little "tweaking", I think this could be a perennial favorite for the Holiday Season.
Keep up the good writes.
