Although a ‘lectric outlet
May look like a tiny lock,
If you use a key to turn it,
You’ll be in for quite a shock.

I love the way you reconnect (or perhaps are just 'still connected?
) with childhood curiosty and wonder! This one reminds me of a little boy in my daycare when I was no more than 5.. He stuck a paperclip into the socket, and my brother did the butter knife thing. They were both truly shocked! I must admit, I was curious too about the knife, cuz Momma always said not to stick things in the sockets. But once I saw how the sparks and tiny flame charred and buckled the end of that knife, I was no longer curious!

And when the volts flow through you
your heart will be aflutter
your hair will stand on end
and your strength will melt like butter...
speaking from experience...only it was a butter knife, not keys and nearly lost two fingers. I have your poem printed out and stuck on the door of the refrigerator. Do I have to pay royalties for that?? Brilliant write x -
