Forgive Them Father

Jesus was born in a manger,
in Bethlehem Christmas Day,
He was the only son God,
He died to take our sins away.

Jesus had His last supper,
his burden was  a heavy load,
dragged through Jerusalem,
mocked by many along the road.

He was walking to be crucified,
nailed to  a cross upon the hill,
two others would share death,
but not of their own free will.

A cross lay upon the ground,
Jesus arms were then spread,
nailing His hands to the cross,
His hands soaked in crimson red.

They raised the cross to the sky,
Jesus Christ began to speak,
forgive them, they do not know,
I give eternal life if you so seek.

The sun stopped shining that day,
dieing, He struggled to be heard,
"Father into your hands I commit my spirit."
Jesus had spoken His final words.

God's son died on the cross for us,
He died to wash all our sins away,
Jesus gave us a life everlasting,
as  they crucified Him that day .

This was a beautiful poem, very deep and the pain of Christ could be felt throughout. From His very Birth to the day he was crucified Christ suffered just for us. Just so that we would be washed of our sins and through Him gain entry into Heaven. You depicted that beautifully in this poem. So many people do not realize that Jesus' life was not a bed of roses. He suffered and was tempted just as us so He could relate to us and be understanding in order to stand before God for us.

    Awesome

This Poem is to be heard and shared to the word, that Christ is Alive and well and he needs us to show them.

Most excellent I must say. Shivers sent up my spine, tears misting my eyes...this poem was absolutely beautiful. I've always believed in God and Jesus...but my TRUE believing started when I saw Passion of the Christ...my life shall be changed forever...and your poem contributed to my beliefs. Excellent job--you're a talented writer indeed!!!

    Beautiful

Beautifully written, Sandy; albeit, the Bible does disagree that our Saviour was born on Christmas day. It was early to mid-October, of 4 B.C. Still, the precious facts stated here always stir my heart and tears. I simply cannot understand how anyone can turn away from a love so great that He willingly died for us. It always astounds me, as indicated in my entry.

Good luck in the contest! Love and hugs, Bon

    Powerful reflections for all

Once again, I love those Christmas thoughts Sandy, awesome my friend, for it makes us realise the truth and depth of Christmas as much as it does Easter. It’s a hard cross alone to truly bear, just in the thoughts and emotions of what it is he must have felt at this time. It’s a clever poem indeed, for it raises thought and knowledge that Christmas is not just his birth as many see, but his whole life along leading up to his death in our place, if we would but believe.. Awesome reading my poetic friend, sincerely another that’s a true pleasure for me to have read.
