Navy Corpsman

Missing image
A lasting tribute from the Marine Corps, whom the Navy Corpsman has the highest respect and honor to serve, Lieutenant General Chesty Puller, said it best,

"You guys are the Marines doctor--There's none better in the business than a Navy Corpsman"

In the Navy,
there is a most elite team,
one that has a unique history,
of sacrifice and service unequaled,
a proud tradition past to present,
of unsurpassed commitment to humanity,
their heritage,
every battlefield upon which they serve,
respect and trust,
justly deserved,
always the first wave,
going ashore,
warriors they may be,
but of a different breed,
their emblem the Caduceus,
symbolic, comforting,
their training,
relief of pain and suffering,
every life saved,
their victory

Their record at war,
the most decorated Corps,
for heroism above and beyond,
it was not glory that drove them on,
it was the Oath, the one,
all of medicine is based upon,
the job of the Corpsman,
whether a fleet sailor,
or Marine on the scene,
their unspoken creed,
what they practice,
in every way,
let no man die on my watch today

Day or night,rain or shine,
dead tired or asleep in bed,
whenever, wherever the need,
injured, or just needing,
a friend to confide,
the Navy Corpsman,
will always be there,
worldwide

this is a lovely poem and very well written, but is this an achievement of yours i.e. your the navy corspeman, or is this a tribute???

    • For over 20 years in war and in peace. Through many achievements at sea, on land, and with the MArines. Yes I am A Navy Corpsman and this is my story and the story of hundreds of thousand of other Corpsman who served. Is it a tribute, yes. Is it my accomplishment or was it my pleasure, only those who read what has been written can decide; 20 years of accomplishment written between the lines.

      Thanks for the inquiry.

Each time I read your poetry I am just blown away Mac. This is an excellent write, and helped me to understand a little bit what a Navy Corpsman does. I'm a bit ignorant in that area as New Zealand's navy only comprises a few ships (or is it boats?). You gave me a picture view of what a Navy Corpsman does, and as in the old WWII movies I could picture him taking care of the wounded in the midst of the warfare. Great job. Thank you. Heather

    Outstanding

Outstanding, Mac. A true, honest, and descriptive way to describe the Navy Corpsman. I agree, corpsmen are there to help and save as many people as possible. All in all, this is one of the beat peices of work on this whole site. Keep up the aweome job. Later- Parearoo
