I Couldn't Help Falling

Missing image
This singer made love to my mind,
this singer brought me to tears,
Elvis was one of a kind,
his name..music to my ears.

Couldn't get enough of him,
I loved him fanatically.
The first day that I saw him,
he changed my life dramatically!

He was generous and kind
to strangers and friends.
I cried when his short life
came to a tragic end.

Dependent on drugs,
(the prescription kind),
he kept on singing
in an altered state of mind.

He made me feel loved,
I was an ardent fan.
Charismatic and handsome...
a very sexy man!

Each song of love he sang
seemed like it was meant for me,
and now, when I hear his voice,
I see him as he used to be...

Young and full of life,
sensitive and romantic,
fulfilling young girls' dreams
of love that is semantic.

It's been thirty years
since he passed away
but in millions of hearts,
he will always stay.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The king of rock 'n' roll is dead.
LONG LIVE THE KING!!!
    When someone speaks words of admiration for him, as you just did, it makes me feel great!!! One of the things my husband and I have in common is our love for Elvis. (And, since he was a big fan, he emulated him and I could see Elvis in him...need I say more? LOL)
    The voice millions have heard
    Sang to each, a word 'love'
    You may remember him as 'king'. Liked his work, but not my 'thing'. Those days I listened to recordings, not generally heard
    Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple. But every person has their choice. This was a great poem and obviously a truly missed influence in your life. As all great influences, saddly missed in passing. -tj-
    Thank you for your nice comment, Cookie! Elvis was a Christian. The only grammy he ever received was for his album of religious songs. The book he was reading when he died was 'The Shroud of Turin' about the shroud that covered Jesus when he laid in the tomb for three days after his crucifixion.
    Ahhh. yes. I was there that day. I was pregnant with my daughter. Our son was 3 1/2. In our town they gave a dedication ceremony with all of his back up singers. It was different. The rain was coming down and I had white jeans on. Our son was in awe of the concert ( he is a professional drummer to this day) , and I remember thinking that it was not true. He is not the 'dying kind'. But so is that with celebrities.
    My hope was that he was a Christian and that he chose to follow the Lord looooooong before his celebrity which guarantees his heavenly reward. I am comfortable with that part.
    Thank you for bring it all back again. I was a child when he was out and he was my sis's favorite! *S*.
    This was awesome! The man was the man, no two ways about it. I will never forget when my mom picked me up at at a friend's house, I was about 5 or so, and she had tears streaming down her face, I said 'what's wrong mommy' she said 'Elvis is dead, baby get in the car.' Knew it was going to be a leftovers night that night.
    I didn't get it, but now I do
    Thank you very much! :-) Yes, we do have his music and I still listen to it often! In fact, I have a tape of Elvis love songs that I put together myself. I listen to it over and over again and never get tired of it. Once an Elvis fan, always an Elvis fan! I really appreciate your comment, Rubee! :-)
    Maureen, I do think this a wonderful tribute to a long agao dead singer, and you just manage to hit home the whole substance of elvis, a man whom was always singing of love, a poet he was indeed, one of us, thank you for letting us all read this part of your feelings on what could often be a somewhat dry subject, a mockery, you made it thought provoking, and touching, the way a memory of a great person should be,
    sincerely,
    joe
