Dixie Eats the World

Dixie covers ground easily
with long legs that eat the world mile by mile
with a hunger described only as atrocious

Dixie plies the world with questions of a nature
unsuitable for children, and old matrons
she does not feel that life should be regretted
but lives everyday with a frenzied zeal
that often, leaves me exhausted

Dixie, oh my Dixie cannot see what she does
when she parades, with hair in tails
and skirt thigh high
that she breaks me, my heart, my living mind
she cannot fathom the heartache i feel

Dixie, Dixie screws with the world, and plays games
games that even children have no concept of
but that i am intimately familiar with

with drawstrings that pull heartstrings like puppets
she plays fiercely, with any man who'll have her
and that, that's usually all men

and i hear them, in the long hours of the night
- her drawn out sighs, and moaning-
fuck, the constant moaning and headboard hitting
flays my nerves raw, but i still listen
head close to the door attempting to gain access to one moment of Dixie's life

a moment she doesn't realize she gives me (or really, that i steal)
that leaves me grinding, hurrying to find some shameful release
and at our climax, i sigh, and lean against the door
moved to such turbulent affairs
that i hang my head in horrid anger

and cry

Nyx...

Another excellent piece...I have to admit I'm getting hooked on the Dixie series. I see many familiar thoughts and emotions running through these, and sense the courage it takes to both write them, and risk them...

    You continue to amaze...

Hmmm...the Dixie ones disturb me in a way, but that's the point...about being disturbed. But I can see your emotions as valid, real and just because some clothing isn't meant to be seen by the entire world, it doesn't mean the clothing doesn't deserve to show their faces to the "what I know now compared to what I knew then" world. Getting caught in the middle of moment in time happens and when we hold on, we get dragged. Peace through love, although some days you might cry. Just know that being alone is a choice at some level. Not that we should settle for letting someone into that sacred part od our hearts...but rather, we'll never know what we missed if we don't try. ET

I would change "Dixie screws the world" to "fucks (or fucks with) the world" . . . but that is only because I am more profane than you. Although I have to say . . . I read "fucks" instead of "screws".

I still have to say there is nothing like reading Dixie. It's almost gotten to where I want to write about her. She has become such an integral part of my reading life here on AlPo.

And you have never made what is almost fiction something that is entirely a legend in my mind.

    Bravo!

What ya mean not sure about this one. The Dixie series is so vivid in their imagery. There are fewj pieces I read with a clearer picture. Excellent. Like this one a lot, in spite of the headboard banging, or perhaps because of it. Love the title too.
