Winter Beckons

Winter's sounds of silence beckon,
a tinge of frostbite on my fingertips,
the bareness of the tall oak trees,
winter's bite felt on my chapped lips.

Crystallized snowflakes blanket the lea,
glistening like diamonds in the sun,
as the wind stings my cheeks I realize,
the harshness of Winter has begun.

God softens the Winter with beauty,
there is splendor in the fallen snow,
we hear beauty in children's laughter,
gliding over the fields they go.

It is now time to celebrate a miracle,
a time to honor a sacred birth,
Jesus was born on Christmas Day,
God's only son was born on Earth.

Winter can be full of harsh weather,
yet it is abundant with beauty too,
it is the time of year to be thankful,
for how much, God has blessed you
