on the surface of a placid lake;
The matronly breeze brushes aside
from a rose, an intrepid snowflake.
That silence is not a soundless one.
From its hollow, a locust sings.
In the boughs of a resting tree,
one hears the flutter of wings.
The crescent moon on its cosmic path
sails through the unfathomable skies;
In the mortal world of relentless struggle,
A tired soul stretches its limbs and sighs.
That silence is not a soundless one.
As the waves reach out to the beach,
Yonder, in the dark mountain cave
echoes a hungry owlet's screech.
Perhaps, in that tranquil moment
as a baby relaxes her clenched fist,
and occasional sounds add to the enigma
of a night draped in the mist,
If you listen carefully, you may feel
The pleasing sound of a soft footfall
bustling through the dew-drenched grass,
as if in response to someone's call.
He who is beyond definition,
He who is he, she and it
wanders alone in the night
tending to bark, brook and spirit.
That silence is not a soundless one.
As formless wind tousles your hair,
A gentle touch wipes from your eyes
Liquid remnants of a nightmare.
Author notes
'Indugaladani andu ledani sandhehamu valadu, endendu vedaki choosina, andande galadu'
Do not be besieged by doubts that he is here and he is not there. Wherever you search for him, he is there.
(An extract from a poem in telugu, my mother tongue)
These words were said by Prahlada, a devotee to his father, the demon-king when he was asked where God was. According to Hindu spiritual texts, God exists in every creature/creation be it a tree or a worm.

My comment now now probably won't be better, considering it's two O'clock AM and I never get much sleep with school and all. Two more weeks 'til summer!
Anywho, I am impressed by your wide vocabulary and your ability to use those words correctly. I know people who have wide vocabularies and either don't use them, or they use it all when they only know what half of them mean. So, sorry I can't respond better. I'm reaaaaaaaally tired. I think I'll go sleep now...or maybe have some coffee.... -
