Sunday School For Retards

I think of my childhood often, too much.
I recall going to church 3 times a week.
We were devout Christians -- all of that
Sunday school, all of that memorizing.
Then grade school, private, disciplined,
Expensive, refined, and disinfected, and
totally more corrupt than any public school
Just more secretive. I was banging the pastor's
daughter for years, she had a drug problem.
Everyone spent hours out of every day gossiping
about one another. While life went on around them
And they fell away from intelligent informed living
Into the paranoia of snooty Christian privacy violating
obese pretentious bad taste, and habits by the handful.

Then came college and Theology school where I was taught
The secrets no normal Christians are exposed to, because
then they would indeed question Christianity, and recognize
it for what it was -- Control, and money. What is war, control,
and money, job creation, economic primer, What causes all wars?
Religion. Is there a God? certainly, where is it? Under your
Christmas tree vacationing from Uranus. Take him some cookies.

I look up, and read poems on this site about God, and sure I could
tear there nievity apart, but what would that prove, other than
what's already been there all along, unimaginative panic, and
uneducated groping for what we are all already born with, LOVE.
There is no heaven and hell, we all come from the same source,
and return to that same source. If you think heaven is a palace in
the sky with an all day buffet? You're screwed. If you think the earth
is hollow, and the devil lives there? Wow, you need medication.
Smoke a doob, and take some junior college anthropology, or
something. Because the earth, and people have been here a lot
longer than a couple thousand years folks the earth's 3.5 billion
years old, and Cro-Magnons have been walking around for a good
80,000 years, flanked by neanderthal man up to 300,000 years ago.
I'm sorry to say, if there is a god, his wand's evolution.

I can relate to this a lot, Jeremi....I'm not Catholic, but when I was a junior in high school, my family convinced me to start going to a Catholic school...why?...because my sis had made the choice to become Catholic, attended a Catholic high school (she's a year younger than I am) and I became aquainted with her friends after living with my grandparents for awhile..anyway, to make a long story short...I never saw such disrespect for teachers (nuns) and the Sister Superior told the whole religion class (I knew little about the religion but was required to attend anyway) that they shouldn't be hanging around with non Catholics...bad influence and all that. It just happened that I was the ONLY non-Catholic in the whole school...talk about being astrecized. But.. I survived to tell about it....I should write a poem or story about all this...lol....lots of other things took place, too many to mention here...
But..to get back to your write here.... as always, well written and interesting. You should write a book

Is that an implication that you fucked Jesus? Man, ANOTHER one! Barbie. Xx And, oh yeah, the story (not poem) is very good. I hate it when I like poems that slate stuff I believe in.

Hmmm! For me rod is a little harsh, in that I do not believe in a God that smotes (smoked a few maybe! Jeez just look at the Aardvark!) For me, I admit a personal choice but:
    'his contemplative evolution.'

See I liked this, the narrative that is typical American poetry at it beatbest. Yet I felt the ending line was a little too easy, I think it is that word 'Wand' not sure if I can fully appreciate it.
I understand the sentiment and the message bit, but I'm just not at ease with that word, apart from that I like the style.
