The Lights Of Sydney~acrostic

Missing image
T ake a trip around Sydney at night and you will see
H ow beautiful the houses look lit up for Christmas
E verywhere you travel you will find them flashing

L ights of all description, colours bright, stars aglow
I nside the windows there’s Santa and Mrs Claus
G o look around see what you can find!
H igh up on the roof is Santa’s sleigh and Reindeers
T here’s Rudolph! oh  see how his nose glows so red
S ights that you can only see when night  time comes.

O n the other side of the street the house is lit up  too
F airies and elves, animals, nativity scenes, xmas trees

S ight seeing is a must, into our car everyone, let’s go
Y oung and old it doesn't matter who, they all come out
D riving around in the dark of night, to see the sights.
N ow  you can see Angels flying up above your head, look!
E veryone stares in awe of the wonderful things they can see
Y es, looking at the houses lit up at night, magnificent.

Well done, nice and compact and tight and very good imagery. There is a famous house in Ottawa, Ontario that opens up in October and he starts to decorate his house...by Christmas Day there is over a million lights shining up his house and yard with a navité seen as big as a garage and back porch. It is visted internationally and line-ups for weeks to see this creation. This poem reminds me of how I lazily drive home at Christmas following the river road instead of the city highway, on the waterfront I pass huge Victorian homes that are decorated for the season. Nice memories my Aussie !

Winnie-the-Pooh is sending out his Easter s and leaving you a nice big basket of dark chocolate candies full of oxidants. Don’t eat them all at once or you’ll be an Eveready Easter bunny!

    Gregg Happy Easter ♥

This was a lovely picture the Lights of Sydney at Christmas time. I love to see the Holiday lights myself. I just got my own up and am having a hard time getting all of the strands to keep working so if you make it to the States let me know so I can make sure they are all working !

this was really interestingly done, and i loved the picture.. but i think it was a little forced into the lettering scheme. "G o look around see what you can find, elves, fairies." i found the "elves, fairies" to be a little awk and disrupt the flow and redundant when you repeated it again (again, to my opinion, a bit forced) in "F airies and elves, animals, nativity scenes, xmas trees "
it was well written though cuz i think i'm in a happy mood...

    Dear Bea,
In Christchurch some years ago, a couple decorated the outside of their home in the way you describe. The idea caught on and now their whole street is ablaze with beautifully and imaginatively decorated homes, year after year. Thousands of people drive around to view them and to imbibe the festive feelings they generate.
Your acrostic is vividly descriptive and is really illustrative of the Spirit of Christmas which these enterprizing folk promote. What a lovely idea to write this poem, Bea, as a tribute to their efforts. Good luck in the contest. Applause.
    Love and hugs, XXX Hugh.

"Fairies, elves, animals, nativity scenes, and trees" all are beautiful sights to light up the nights sky. The angels among the stars looking down enjoy them too.
We love to go "light" gazing during Christmas. Within each light the Spirit of Christmas shines.
Very uplifting write sweetie, and beautifully done.
    Sam

    Me too

My dog, Tigger, and I go for a walk at night to see the Christmas lights. At the corner on Betty Jane Lane there is a beautiful Magnolia tree that is huge with my favorite Christmas lights on with the traditional colors of red, blue, green and orange. I LOVE going to candle light service at church at the top of the Hill of Betty Jane Lane on Christmas Eve night. Special too since my mother's name is Betty Jane and she LOVED Magnolia trees.
