a part of me died the day you left

Every time I pass those fields in the summer
I'll think of those times we shared together
you taught me how to love
you taught me how to share
those sacred times we had will forever burn in my heart
I've never had a love for anything like the love I had for you
and I know I never will   again
you will always be something special to me

the day you left a part of me went with you
I wish I could go back in time
so I could have done something to keep you
I will forever be hunted by the remorse of letting you go so easily

If I could go back in time maybe I could have made you mine.

"I will forever be hunted by the remorse of letting you go so easily"

That's like my favorite line of all time.

    Oh my.
    I love it.

Indeed the climax is the line "If I could go back in time maybe I could have made you mine."

That literary element is normally used in the middle of a piece, but it works splendidly where you've placed it - at the very end. It would have made sense anywhere else but it finalizes and deepens the meaning by being put at the end of the poem.

    Grand job dear.

    Post more stuff!

"If I could go back in time maybe I could have made you mine" i really liked this phrase. I often hear these phrase, "if i could go back in time...." from various people and everytime i hear it i know that soemthing he/she left behind meant really soemthing for that person. I guess in the case, it is not much different. But it's nice to know that good things, such as love persist even when things end. It's carrying it in your heart that counts while your moving on in your life. while the outside things change, what we learn and loved may persist, possibly it jut grows but not change.
