Bird Song

SONG BIRD SING

The song bird is singing a sad melody,
death is calling from beyond the hill.
Echoing sorrow in the evening sunset,
perched high atop the window sill.

Shadows dancing across the meadow,
as bright clouds make way for the gray.
The songbird is singing his final song,
left behind on this cold winter day.

Enchantment of his song in springtime,
will be missed in April at the break of day.
The summer sunsets will not be the same,
death is taking  the songbird away.

Songs whispered in the summer breeze,
are ending, never again to be heard.
Nature allows for the strong to survive,
a sad ending to this beautiful songbird.

Falling  snow glistens in  the fading sunset,
his broken wing will not allow him to fly,
Day disappears behind the mountain,
his farewell song ended, he says good bye.

Awww... I like this. You have penned a great poem to go with the title. I was drawn to this by the title alone and even with the tinge od sadness in it, you have created some beautiful imagery and a wonderful poem. Good luck in the contest!
