i have a life time of scars
each one holds a story behind it
i have one on my wrist and its a cross
i did it when i was mad at my father
one just below it
it happened when my mother and father separated
my left arm is covered with hurt and pain
each time i cut i add another story to my life
scars don't have to be on the outside
scars can be on the inside too
i have a scar on my heart
and it will be there forever
a scar can be something that happened to you
a scar is a life time thing that you'll always have
a scar reminds you of what you been through
a scar reminds you that you've been hurt
and every time you stare down at it
it reminds you of that very moment when you slide a blade right through your skin
a scar can be when you tried to commit suicide
a scar is a story of pain
that pain will never actually leave you
because that pain will always be healed up inside that scar
i know cutting isn't good but it helps me get it of my chest
when you cut a scar your pain drips away
it never leaves you though
a scar is a story and that's all it will ever be

I must say, this poem really reaches me, because I have gone through much of the same, and I understand this. It is direct, and gets to the point, and it is terribly sad, and lets other people understand what people think of when they do things like that. This is a really great poem, and I loved your analogies and wording.
