Concrete Shoes

In his mind another storm rages,
And lightening cracks one more joke,
The brain's flickers make a mockery,
Of the pain his passion can evoke.

Every cloud's silver lining,
Avoids his grasping claws,
His face is blank and he retreats,
Back to the shadows once more.

She is the eye in the centre,
The cause but never the bane,
His heart flickers but never his face,
Wishing she would treasure his name.

A glance briefly settles the fires,
Raging in a place he can't reach,
He hopes the look could mean a sign,
In his world he is the leech.

A glimpse and she shatters his barrier,
His calm and residual profile,
He hopes that she knows his passion for her,
Remains in every smile.

Wow, after reading the poem and then donnz comment, I'm suddenly depressed...But no worry! Envoking emotion is a good thing, especially in someone who usually shows none. Well, I'm amazed at your ability to write something so compelling without being blan in words. Many people have to state something blankly to make their point, but you do it through metaphors and emotions that take talent to realize. Nice work.

How many times I have looked for that flicker of recognition and have been reminded of my invisability.
