First Love

I can feel your arms around me
holding me tight
as dark breaks slowly
into first light.

Hazy rays peek through
the creases of the blinds
breaking open eyes
and leaving dreams behind.

I smile upon waking
for you are still asleep
troubles thrown aside
in a bulky heap.

I wish to freeze this moment
and keep it locked away
in a memory locket
forever it will stay.

I slide out of your grasp
careful not to wake you
as I pull out my camera
and snap a few.

The lens clicks
and I find a name,
"First Love;"
nothing will be the same.

Your eyes flutter open
alert and aware,
they soften though
as I'm standing there.

That smile shall never leave me
much too perfect to waste
and I'm lost forever
in the wondrous taste.

Author notes

I got the idea from the book Making the Run by Heather Henson (an excellent read if you ask me.)If you've read it then you'll know exactly what's going on. If you haven't, well, then I recommend you do because it's really an amazing book.

    Warming

I really like this, thanks for entering. It actually got me thinking about how wonderful that can be, waking up next to someone you love. So thanks for that

I can't pick out a particular stanza, the whole thing makes me feel warm inside.
