The High Road's not an easy one to take,
but sometimes one must choose that lonely path.
Along that route, one must ignore the snake
that spits its strange and unrelenting wrath.
We all make choices as we travel through
and hope that people close to us will know
that to ourselves we’re only being true;
that there are times when we must let it go.
To plead the case would only hurt things more
and truth revealed would simply cause more pain;
I hold my tongue against my inner roar
so more than ash and cinders will remain.
I wish it wasn’t quite so lonely here --
but still, the air is cool and sweet and fresh;
and though misunderstanding’s what I fear,
I know the road I’ve chosen is the best.
Author notes
There is lots of drama in life – real and virtual life. Sometimes when we choose to do what is right for us, we must also choose to keep quiet about it for the “greater good.”

Not bad!
I thought this one was a little ambiguous in the middle and, (I really hate to say this) even a little cliche. But it's pretty good all in all, and you wrap it up nicely at the end. Not bad! -
This is quite excellently done. I particularly enjoyed the third stanza. I always know when I've read true poetry. It leaves me feeling that the truth is beautifully simple...when I know that isn't so. But, poetry does that, doesn't it? Smooths out all the wrinkles so we can see through to whats really essential? Yeah...that's what good poetry does. This was very good.

i love this. so great...the whole things just fucking great.
hope to hear more like this from you. keep it up. -
Wow it feels like a great internal struggle here.
I do know all too well what you mean about sacrificing your happiness for the great good. Sometimes it just doesn't seem worth it to let yourself go for the rest of man-kind.
This poem clearly outlines some type a struggle- whether it be internal or external. Excellent usage of words, Bravo!
